Cheney Caught in Lie!

Cheney Caught in Lie!

Cheney blasted Edwards for a poor attendance record, and claimed he had never met the senator before their Vice Presidential debate .. I guess this photo is a lie!

In addition, (as quoted from JohnKerry.com) .. this is what Cheney said at the time ...

Cheney Thanked Edwards At the National Prayer Breakfast. Addressing the National Prayer Breakast, Cheney said: “Thank you. Thank you very much. Congressman Watts, Senator Edwards, friends from across America and distinguished visitors to our country from all over the world, Lynne and I honored to be with you all this morning.” [FDCH Political Transcripts, Cheney Remarks at the National Prayer Breakfast, 2/1/01]

Clearly Edwards dropped the ball on not firing back with this meeting .. HOWEVER .. Cheney by far made the bigger blunder .. if you're going to launch an attack, make sure you get the facts straight.

I guess that shows how little of an impression Edwards made on Cheney if he's that forgetable - had he been more memorable perhaps he would have stood out more!

Yeah but its a moot point if what Cheney was saying about 'Senator Gone' was true.

Who cares if Cheney met him once before... if Edwards is known for having the worst attendance record in the entire senate.

I just find it interesting coming from a man who works for a President that goes on an awful lot of vacations. If I went on vacation as often as Bush I would not have a job.

only one?

the rest will surface, eventually...

What vacations would those be? Are you refering to his trips to the ranch, aka the Western Whitehouse? He's usually got key members of his staff there at one time or another and also hosts visiting heads of state. Or maybe last Thanksgiving when he spent that day in a surprise visit to the troops in Iraq - vacation? Just because he's not at the White House doesn't mean it's a vacation.

Now Kerry - what about poor record of being absent for votes on senate bills or his absence at committee meetings of which he's a member? Just because he didn't go home doesn't mean he was actually working!

According to an August 2003 article in the Washington Post, President Bush has spent all or part of 166 days during his presidency at his Crawford, Texas, ranch or en route. Add the time spent at or en route to the presidential retreat of Camp David and at the Bush family estate in Kennebunkport, Maine, and Bush has taken 250 days off as of August 2003. That's 27% of his presidency spent on vacation. Seems like alot of 'working vacations'. JMO

I agree with the vacation thing. 100%. if you're the :leader f the free world' I can't see how you have ANY time for vacation, much less 27% of your time as pres.

Also, to be fair, Cheney and Edwards both bent the truth in the debate.

When Points Weren't Personal, Liberties Were Taken With the Truth

Everytime any candidate says anything I take the time to fact check it!

CNN had that Cheney thanking Edwards thing on the news within 10 minutes. Gotta love that.

Or maybe old man Cheney is getting a bit of the Alzheimer's.

Maybe old man Cheney (and the Bush administration) should check their facts before launching attacks.

Actually Senator Edwards has a phenominal voting record....one of the best, especially in his first 2 terms.

I don't think he literally meant that they never met.

He meant it more as they haven't met in the senate...in a political forum.

First of all, you must must must look at where you are getting this information from. The Washington Post is one of the most liberal papers in the entire country. That's first of all. Second of all, this was in Farenheit 9/11 so I guess since Michael Moore AND the Washington Post said it, it must be true.

Uh, if you go back to the Presidential debates, I remember a certain someone (ahem, Kerry) saying that the President has given not one nickel to local transit security and that's why the NYC subways had to close down when the RNC was in town.

Um, HELLO??? W T F are you talking about Kerry? I was on that very subway 10 times that week and had not one issue with it so it was not shut down. Moreover, Bush has put $115 million into local transit security.

So, who has to check their facts???

I'm just nauseated that there is such a thing as an Annual National Prayer Breakfast that my tax dollars are paying for ...

who cares about this really- it's all tit-for-tat.

What I'm more intrigued about is the new Iraq report that came out yesterday.

I have to tell you- I feel like Bush should be impeached for this and he should visit each soldier's family that was killed because of this war and personally apologize.

I am amazed that he still insists that they were there

I think the newsclip this morning quoted him saying that there was an eminent threat of Saddam supporting terrorists.
