Cheney Caught in Lie!

Original post by Kel

Cheney blasted Edwards for a poor attendance record, and claimed he had never met the senator before their Vice Presidential debate .. I guess this photo is a lie!

In addition, (as quoted from JohnKerry.com) .. this is what Cheney said at the time ...

Cheney Thanked Edwards At the National Prayer Breakfast. Addressing the National Prayer Breakast, Cheney said: “Thank you. Thank you very much. Congressman Watts, Senator Edwards, friends from across America and distinguished visitors to our country from all over the world, Lynne and I honored to be with you all this morning.” [FDCH Political Transcripts, Cheney Remarks at the National Prayer Breakfast, 2/1/01]

Clearly Edwards dropped the ball on not firing back with this meeting .. HOWEVER .. Cheney by far made the bigger blunder .. if you're going to launch an attack, make sure you get the facts straight.

who cares about this really- it's all tit-for-tat.

What I'm more intrigued about is the new Iraq report that came out yesterday.

I have to tell you- I feel like Bush should be impeached for this and he should visit each soldier's family that was killed because of this war and personally apologize.

I am amazed that he still insists that they were there

I think the newsclip this morning quoted him saying that there was an eminent threat of Saddam supporting terrorists.

just like kerry said in 2003, before the there was public backlash and he changed his mind

don- changing your position when new facts are introduced is OK, but I think anyone involved in the invasion of Iraq needs to take responsibility and admit that maybe, just maybe we got in too quick & for the wrong reasons? It is not ok to just change focus with out acknowledging the error.

You're in PR...I am sure you know how damaging an 'ignore it & it will go away' policy can be.

I know I am going to get flamed for this one, but I think it stinks that are troops are tired, scared, hurt, understaffed, and serving extended tours...and are we really sure why?

Kerry changed his mind because he realized he made a mistake. Busy isn't stepping up to the plate.

If Bush wins IMO it will be a very sad day for our country.

I do know that and I agree with you

If we ignore the Iraq problem, will it go away?

And as far as the troops go, as tired as they are, try telling them that they are fighting the wrong war

I meant Bush isn't stepping up to the plate. Kerry realized when the new facts came in that he needed to change his position.

Dude- you can't even USE that in an argument because:

the Congress were presented with information from the President... that's what they voted on. The last time I checked, individual Senators and Congresspeople didn't go out on their own individual fact-finding missions. He changed his mind based on new information, which is what Bush SHOULD be doing instead of behaving like a selfish child

I would say at this point there is an eminent threat that Bush/Cheney and Rove get bounced

There are Countries way more dangerous than Iraq that we seem to be ignoring who actually have WMD.

Why is that?

no flaming from me!
my brother is one of the ones over there scared, hurt, understaffed, and serving his second tour in Iraq (he had one previously in the Persian Gulf) all Bush became President.
It's disgusts me what this man has done for his own purposes!!!

a report I saw said that the majority of troops want Bush out of there- they know what they are doing is f-ed up.

And at this point, we can't just leave Iraq the way it is, I think everyone realizes that.

which is why bush is going to win

I would never say that they fought for nothing.....that is just to much for any person to bear, and I am not implying that...what I am saying is that when people came home from vietnam they had a very rude awakening about why they were there & many of those soldiers never recovered (of course many of them were drafted, so it's a little different). I do not want to see that history repeat.

Also, in regards to an exit strategy, how can one be effectively planned and executed without aknowledging that the initial threat which brought them there is no longer.

i disagree with this sentiment 100%

i think we have to make time for a new leader, and find someone who can fix the damage that has already been done!
someone with experience in war, and someone who can think for himself.....

Although I think many people feel this way, and this has been the trend in the past, I think it is quite arguable today. I think there is to much at stake to maintain such an ideology

BTW don...did I ever tell you I like our little chats

I LOVE these chats too

so if we've done so much damage, if i rmember correctly the day after the last debate, the pools indicated that while people thought kerry spoke better. more people agreed with bush's action plan in iraq

It is possible that people are still marginally for bush and Iraq, but I wanted to show you a little article I found this morning

Iraq Poll on CNBC

(which also helps solidify yesterdays arguement about the danger of vesting too much in polls )

That article references the original reason for going to war in Iraq. What don's referring to is the current plan and handling of Iraq. Two very different things.

Yes I know, I just think it is interesting how people can be so dualistic. it amazes me that people can agree that entering is unjustified but another poll states that the current policy is effective. Can you really have it both ways? I'm not convinced

I understand...I am saying thayt we will not know for sure until we get the popular vote count....and even that cannot be trusted b/c too many people do not vote.
