I have alot of young children in my family. I am talking like about 20 kids. I do not feel that a wedding is the place for children. Is it bad not to invite the children. My mother thinks I am crazy. I just feel that the kids that are in the BP should be there and thats it. What do YOY THINK?

Re: Children at the wedding
Wow the children thing is such an issue lately.
We are only having immediate family children at the wedding. My FH 8 nieces/nephews. None a really young. But we also left it up to his siblings to decide if they wanted them there.
Most people would probably rather leave their children home. It makes it easier.

if your mom's paying, she wants kids, and shes willing to invite them...than go for it i guess...
ideally i'd like no kids at my wedding either, but thats just not possible! [ family feuds. or fights will break out, ppl upset] my parents cant have that...so theyre just inviting all lol
good luck
agreed completely. the thought of no kids crossed my mind for a moment, but before i even expressed that idea, i knew the answer: dream on. and the kids ended up being an adorable fixture! they didn't ruin pictures and in fact, are only in 2 pictures that the photographer grabbed them to be in!
Exactly what i found to be true....the best shots i have are ones with my little cousin breaking dancing on the floor and my other cousin copying me putting on lipstick in the bridal suite

A Big thank you to Everyone kfor your comments. Of course the fight is still going on! My Parents are helping us pay for the wedding but I just feel it is an Adult Party. I have three neices and nephews and my FH has 1 Neice. They are all in the BP and will be attending the Wedding. Other then that I guess I am just going to stand my ground.

Re: Children at the wedding
My FH has a very large italian family and a ton of cousins and nieces and nephews. So we are saying no kids because or else it will seriously add probably another 30 or 40 people to the reception $$$$....but I have a feeling people are gonna bring them anyway, just a bad gut feeling.
We would like them at the ceremony though, but people will be drinking and everything at the reception , not a place for kids anyway, I think.

Re: Children at the wedding
This was a HUGE issue for us!! I have the kids in the bridal party who are all 4-1/2 (3),. I originally said NO kids and wasn't budging on that!! BUT of course..it became an issue, one that I was tired of hearing about. My FH has 2 nieces..one who is 11 and the other is 8. He insisted that he invite the 11 year old because 'she would never forgive him'..and we got into it. I told him if she's coming then your other niece should come too..because that's not fair. She's your niece as well. So fine..we said those 2. Then I decided I would let one of my BM's bring her daughter who is 11 also only because she is having babysitting issues.
So the no kids thing..went out the window. Whoever complains about them being there..too bad.

Re: Children at the wedding
I think kids younger than a certain age, like 5 and under are too young to make it all the way thru an evening reception without falling apart, also the parents can't enjoy themselves with the kids that young there.
also, past neices, nephews and first cousins, I don't really think that you're obligated to invite any children....
however, I wouldn't cause a major family fight over it....

4 kids. Just me and FH's neices and nephews. We're very close with them. They are going to be 3, 4, 5 & 6 years old.

Re: Children at the wedding
I think that it is all about your relationship with them. I had to have my 12-year old cousin. It would have been very odd if she weren't invited. But, family friend's children who went to my shower were not invited to the wedding. The 8-year old was so freaking cute at my shower. She made me my hat and helped open gifts. If she were at the wedding it would have been alright. The only problem, though, with kids under 12 is that they tag on to you. You have to tell them to leave you alone, and it's hard to do.

Re: Children at the wedding
I used this reasoning with my FH (who wanted kids at the wedding) Would you take an 8 year old out to dinner and spend over $100.00 on them?......He said i had a good point

Re: Children at the wedding
i'm with you---no children. if you give ppl ample amount of time, there is no reason they shouldn't be able to accommodate.
go with what you & FH want!

Re: Children at the wedding
I LOVE children..........but didn't want there company at our wedding. We had 1 child age 3, two 10 year olds, a 13 year old. It was great. We had an early ceremony which the 3 year old was involved in and he was exhausted half way through the reception he fell asleep on my grandfathers lap.
