Church prices - Holy crap! (no pun)
So the church we were thinking of going with to make life easy just increaased their fees. The fees were totally okay for us when we got them at the end of December. We called again to get info and got papers n the mail with their new fees. MORE than doubled! $1600!!! WHAT!? We could go to the non denominational Chapel in Woodbury for less! UGHhhhhhh Back to square one.

Yikes! Ours was $800, then an additional $350 for the singer & organist - I thought that was pretty high!

Wow, I had no idea churches cost so much. We are paying $700 extra to get married at our venues location. Then we have to pay close to 500 for the officiant. Glad to see it's pretty similar to church pricing. I thought we were getting ripped off.

I'm glad that my venue threw the ceremony room in! My officiant was $600 though.

honestly the church is around $800-$1500 but I don't really see what it is people complain about. The ceremony is the most important thing and people spend ten of thousands of dollars on the reception I don't get why people complain about such a minimal amount in the grand scheme of things. If you really had a hardship and couldn't afford a ceremony the church would still perform your marriage.

Seriously? That's insane. I'm almost positive that ours is $700.ETA: It includes an organist and a singer as well in the price. Guess we are getting a deal!
FM me if you want to know the church.

St Killian in farmingdale is $500 plus $250 for the organist and $250 for a singer. That's still only $1000!! I was gonna say maybe that $1600 it's for everything but that's still alot!@soon2bemrsmango I think it's allot of money for people like me and starlzinkd bc one a church ceremony is not what we wanted, so it's hard to give a church that much money when u don't even want that! Two people are still on a budget, and when u think your church is going to charge half of what u expected it's a shell shock and hard to find the money.
No disrespect, just explaining bc I was in the same boat! My venue charged $750 and I thought by gong to the church I would save! And I'm not!

If a church wedding isn't what you want... then don't do it.
Everything costs money. At the venue you're paying for the space. The church ... you're paying for the space and the priest. Just because it's a church doesn't make it free. They still have upkeep.
Yes. It's ridiculous to DOUBLE the cost after they already said one price but that should have been brought up.
Everybody is on a budget whether the budget is 10k or 100k... you HAVE to pay for a ceremony, marriage license and officiant. Wherever it may be. Everyone makes cuts somewhere.

I don't want a church wedding. I'm really only doing it to make my mom and fmil happy. That being said I still don't have a problem paying whatever I have to pay for the church. Hey I just paid $200 for pre cana.
It is what it is and if it's not something you want there are cheaper alternatives. My brother got married in a city park for $25 and had someone get ordained so they didn't have to pay for an officiant.
Bottom line is the church costs money but without that ceremony you're not married.

Its not that easy....I know both my self and starlzinkd have similar issues!
I'm having a March winter wedding so out side is not an option, my hall chapel is to small, I hate the idea of doing it in the same room!!!! And non denomination church's like she said are 1200$ being on s budget my church is the way to go! It's just not what I pictured!
I guess when planning and thinking of a church I thought how could a church be that much.....I ASSUMED( and you know what they say when u do that lol) it in total would be $500! My problem too is if I have to pay fot someone to clean up then someone should be able to clean up the rose pedals my fg throws but she isn't allowed!

That's it for us too. His mother and my grandmother are both passed but they would not be happy if we weren't. And my WHOLE family was upset!! I agree it was what it is. But I'm still allowed to complain about it lol. Paying for pre cana annoys me to but I'm gonna do it! I'm actually glad we have to take it. I wish it wasn't so much.

Cant you try to argue that when you 'booked' with them before the new pricing you should be held to that. They are a church I think they should understand. bc it goes under donation anyway they dont claim it as payment (at least thats my understanding)Welcome New Vendors
