Cinderella Castle Dining Q?

Original post by cherish83

.Okay, so I just called the Disney reservation desk for restaurants, and the only time they have to eat at Cinderalla's Castle for dinner is at 4:10. Thats a bit early. We got the dining plan, so that uses up 2 out of our 5 sit down meals. My question is, is it really worth it? The pictures I found online of the place don't look really nice. FH and I are trying to find nice/romantic places to eat.

So far we've booked, Wolfgangs downtown (Wofgang is FH's idol, so that was a given.. ) and the coral reef at Epcot, because i told FH he had to plan a date, and he doesnt really know disney but he said the only thing he knows of disney was seeing that restaurant on Full House and it looked nice

I tried for Le Cellier, but thats ALL booked for the days we are there... What other nice restaurants do you recommend?

I know I want to do some of the fun ones too, like Prime Time Cafe, but thats not expensive, so we dont mind paying for that for lunch.

Okay this started out as one question and turned into many and i started rambling so i'm going to stop now.. Thanks for all those who beared with me here

FH and I try to go every year....it's the most fun EVER especially when we stay in a resort that's within walking distance, like the Boardwalk or Beach Club.

That's where FH and I got engaged....because I love food...

No, well yes....but that's not why haha

I thought of some other stuff:

You MUST visit the Earl of Sandwich in Downtown Disney. It's a counter service credit and they have the MOST AMAZING sandwiches ever...we make at least two trips there every time we go.

Also....for ice cream go to Beaches an Cream in the Beach Club. Unfortunetly it's not on the dining plan but worth the trip. It's like a soda shop, very cute.

Also I don't know if your FH will do it but my FH loved Tea Time in the Grand Floridan in the Garden View Lounge. It's was really quiet at about 4:30 and we had the place to ourselves....it was wonderful. But also not on the dining plan. It is pretty cheep though...at the most expensive package it's $25 / person which I thought was pretty reasonable considering the amount of food you get.

If you are looking for counter service options visit The Mara in the Animal Kingdom Lodge. It's a great place to spend the afternoon wandering around the Lodge and the food is really yummy!!!

Edited to add: Jiko and Boma (restaurants in the Animal Kingdom Lodge) are VERY GOOD!!! Especially if you like more exotic food. IMO both places are quite romantic...expecially Jiko.

Oh my god...I have no stop this is like a sickness....

yea its not too far, i think prolly about a 15 min drive

I know.. so of course we have to do that

Ask your resort if they have transportation or something before you take a cab because my friend and I did that senior year of high school and it cost sooo much to take a cab. The resort should have some kind of transportation for it like a bus or something. I would check it out and ask before I take a cab because it will cost money, like everything else in disney..lol

Yeah FH and I LOVE Disney...that's where he proposed. We've been there so many times! I highly recommend a rental car. We always get one for only like $100 and its the best. No waiting at the airport, you pick it right up there. Also, I believe you can't get to MGM by monorail, and there's a lot of waiting around for trams...which are always packed. Oh and with Universal they usually have a 2 day pass or more only... so your FH could go back again if he wanted lol. We usually go back and forth spending half days at different parks and Universal.

Hope you have a great time!!!

We are staying in a Veranda view room in the Animal Kingdom, so that is good. We dont have a meal plan, so the Ice Cream place sounds good and everything else!!!

We're going from Sept 29th through Oct 4. I already have reservations at Wolfgang's Cafe in downtown disney on the 30th and at Coral Reef on the 3rd.

I tried to get Le Cellier (The steakhouse at Epcot), but they are all booked. Hmm if you suggest California grill i'll show FH and see what he thinks.. it is on the dining plan, and it would be nice to see the fireworks from there. Do you know if the shuttles from resorts take you to other resorts?

If those are the days you are going DON'T make dinner reservations every night!!!!

Epcot's Food and Wine Festival starts Sept. 30th and it's AWESOME!!!! They set up about 25 mini-pavillions serving sample sizes of food and wine from various regions. IT'S SUPER FUN!!! And you can use your DDP snack credits toward the food!! Definetly check it out.

If you are looking for something similar to the Cinderella Castle Dinner try the Aukershaus (sp) in Norway (Epcot)....it's essentially the same except it's alot eaiser to get into (and it's not in the castle...but that's overrated, imo anyway). The breakfast there is exceptionally good!!

I also reccomend: 'Ohana (Polynesian Resort- You can watch the fireworks from here), Cape May's Cafe (Beach Club- Buffet Clam Bake...very yummy) and Mitsokushi (Japan- If you like japanease food).

I would reccomend Alfredos in Italy and I don't know if anyone said this yet but it's closing August 30th so that would be out......I'm so sad about this.

So that's my 2 cents...

Yes! I know about the festival, which is why we are going that time. FH graduates next month from culinary school, so he's always wanted to go the festival. I didnt know you can use the snack points for the food.. thats AWESOME! thanks for the tip!

Seriously thanks though! $25 isnt bad if you get a lot of food.. and i love me some ice cream, so maybe we will go to the soda shop place you mentioned!

Between FH and I we have been to Disney over 20 times. I have to say that the California Grill in the Contemporary was one of the best places we have ever eaten. FH tried sushi there for the first time and actually loved it!

We also loved the Rose and Crown Pub in the England section of EPCOT.

It's English food, not that I really know what that means, but I had a potato and leek soup that was to die for! It's a meat and potatoes kind of place, but you can sit outside and watch the Illuminations fireworks show if you make reservations at the right time. Try and get the last reservation of the day and check in early for an outside seat!!

Also you can do Cap'n Jack's at Downtown Disney - last year it was only 1 meal (definitely should have been 2) on our dining plan and it was out of this world... I got lobster, my FFIL got surf and turf. It was awesome...

Aww thanks so much! You're so sweet! But I found a website that has pictures of most of the restaurants, so you dont need to go out of your way, but thanks!

All i can say is that you are sooooooo smart for making reservations ahead of time.

When we went to Florida in March, we had no idea, FH walked into Cinderellas Castle and they told him there was a 6 month waiting list to eat there.

We tried 3 times to get into Wolfgang Puck, and we finally did.

We Tried desperately to get into the restaurant that is on the top floor of the Contemporary.
After no luck cause it was jam packed, we went to the california grill and it was excellent,

Smart thinking planning ahead!

I recommend Narcoosee's at the Grand Floridian and the California Grill at the Contemporary Resort. Both very romantic and on the dining plan.
We LOVED eating at Cinderella's castle and the food was very good, but definitely catered to kids with the characters, etc.

Alfredo's in Epcot was really not good IMO - portions were very small and definitely didn't blow us away.

I wouldn't have thought about it, but when i made the reservations, the lady told me that for most places you had to, so i figured I would. But that was two weeks ago. If i had done it two weeks ago, maybe i wouldve gotten into the places we originally wanted.
