Re: Clear Channel drops the Howard Stern show
I agree Howard is on when kids are in school, and I 'm pretty sure most parents are NOT letting their children listen to HS. Most of them are listening to CD's I'm sure

PS, it's only 6 radio stations across the country that dropped Howard Stern. It's not the WHOLE show, like when Infinity canceled Opie & Anthony.
But didn't they get dropped all over, since Infinity was the one that they worked for??
Right, Infinity owned Opie & Anthony and when they dropped them, they got dropped from every Infinity radio station across the country.
Infinity owns Howard Stern. They didn't drop Howard Stern. Clear Channel dropped their broadcast of his show. Infinity is still broadcasting Howard Stern on their radio stations.

Howard has to pay for all of the others artists when they f up.When the SuperBowl thing happened his name was mentioned in so many reports, he ahd nothing to do with it, but they need to bring him into it. It is so ridicoulous!!!

Re: Clear Channel drops the Howard Stern show
We shouldn't all be punished because some less than model parents would allow their children to listen to Howard Stern.I flip through the channels in the morning and I am always SHOCKED when I see that a 'skinamax' movie is being shown at a time when I would think that children are up and getting ready for school. Why is that okay, but Howard Stern is not.
First of all, because of the time that Howard Stern runs, children will only hear him if their parents, bus drivers or school teachers are listening to him. I think we can rule out bus drivers or teachers risking their jobs in that way. If a parent is going to listen to it while their children are in the room, then those kids probably have bigger problems than that
The thing about the radion and the television is that you can turn the channel. No one is forcing people to listen to Howard Stern.
This country is going down the toilet. So much moralism and bible thumping.

I understand that, but it doesn't matter if it is his whole show or not, people in Florida that can't listen to him anymore, can't hear him, becasue of Janet Jackson, so she could get more record sales.

Why are they all censoring things that need not be censored, and not censoring the things they should be.
This becomes the problem? Who will be the judge what's right and wrong?
But just because it's a free country, does that mean everyone should just run rampant with whatever they want to say and do? NO!

Howard Stern is owned by Infinity, not Clear Channel. Clear Channel only broadcasts them on 6 stations.
I don't know how many stations it is, but Howard said this morning that 1/10 of his listening audience had been cut off. That is a pretty good chunk of people, regardless of how many stations that amounts, too.

It doesn't matter even if it is one person is affected by this, it is censorship, and it is ridicoulous. If you don't like it turn it off!!! It is as simple as that.
My poor brother lives outside of Orlando, he is probably crying, since there is no good radio there, as he has put it.

Re: Clear Channel drops the Howard Stern show
My mistake, Howard Stern is not syndicated through Infinity. It's syndicated through an independent company partially owned by Stern.Infinity does broadcast most of Stern's shows on their radio stations.

These are the stations: “Big 106” WBGG, Miami, KIOZ, San Diego, WTKS, Orlando, WXDX, Pittsburgh, WNVE, Rochester, and
WTFX, Louisville. - Definitely NOT 1/10 of his business at all!

I agree, Kelly, but Howard Stern did not say or do anything yesterday that was any different from what he has been saying or doing for 20 years. It scares me that since Janet showed her boob, SUDDENLY, the Howard Stern show is not fit for the air.

Of course no one should run rampant. But people shouldn't be allowed to make the rules as they go along, cause then this whol freedom of speech is a big sham. The man has done NOTHING that he hasn't been doing for YEARS, why do they feel the need to do this NOW?

Re: Clear Channel drops the Howard Stern show
HES GONE!!!!!!
this sucks!!!!! In San Diego...
I'll tell you the problem with Clear Channel...and you decide who is worse...CC or HS!!!!
FCC regulates that a company can only own 6 radio statios in a given market...but San Diego borders Mexico and one of their biggest cities (Tijuana) is less that 25 miles away...so Clear Channel has a complete monopoly over the air waves in SD - by broadcasting through Mexico...that means they pick and choose the music that they want us to hear...or more precise which record labels grease their pockets...
there is ONE independent station that is owned by an insurance company in NC that has really stood up to CC...and its only been in the last year...and they are slowly forcing CC to change their ways...
I am so pissed about this!!!! How dare they!!! We are too far to pick up the LA station...not sure if there is another station that carries him...

I didn't say 1/10 of his business, I said 1/10 of his listeners. It may be that those six stations broadcast to areas that are more densely populated than some other areas. I know that K-Rock plays to a wider listening audience than the channel that I hear because I can drive well into Jersey and hear K-Rock, but I lose Stern in MD before I drive the 40 mins from where I live to the Delaware border.
I am just passing on what I heard.

Miami and SD are two of the biggest cities in the US...this could absolutely equate to 1/10 of the listeners....

Even if it is only 6 stations they might have a huge percentage, since they are all major cities, and he might have huge audiences there.
