What type of music are you doing for your cocktail hour?

We have a band for the reception, just trying to think of what would be fun for the cocktail hour.

OUr DJ played music, we did lounge music, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, etc.

I am doing the same... also adding some older stuff- maybe from the 40's (for his grandmother), also some jazz and also some older classic mellow rock stuff.

Steel drum as well.
he is also doing percussion with the DJ for the reception.

We have our DJ doing the music for cocktail hour. Very low-key, background music.

I am making a CD of some songs that aren't upbeat enough for the reception but songs that are important to us. My RH is just going to play it though the speakers.

Our DJ played big band/jazz lounge kind of stuff. Rat Pack, etc. It worked really well and was mellow enough and quiet enough that people could hear it but still hear themselves speak.

Russo's has a self playing baby grand piano- we're using that instead of our DJ.

i prerecorded a cd with var. music we like. I have as the first few songs kinda lounge/cabaret songs then it goes into traditional irish ballads/drinking songs and then goes into light rock/metal (ballads) and ends with the barber de saville instrumental.

what about if u get a frank sinatra style singer?? that's always fun...and most DJ's have it as an option...

We have a baby grand piano in the cocktail room....and I would love to add some one on the guitar outside...but dont think its in the budget!

We are making a pre made CD of the songs listed below.... plus a few others. The DJ is feeding music into the room. We are not having a 'strolling sax player' or painist.
