Comments on reception locations.

Original post by desyre

Here i go again. Either my post are bad or people just don't like me (# of responses on my post are very low). But I'm a happy go lucky girl , so I decided to post again any way.

Here it goes:

Does anyone have comments on these reception locations. I am looking for something in a isolated location (no huge streets or houses right across the street). Somewhere in Nassau County or on the edge of the Queens/Nassau County borderline. Also somewhere beautiful but not too 'classy' looking (i know i'm picky ). These are the last and final locations I wanted to check out before i do my second 'run' on the places that i like. The reception locations that i have are:

Crest Hollow Country Club
George Washington Manor
Leonard's
Manor East
Riveria
The Cottage & Carriage House at Milleridge
Woodbury Country Club
Imperial Manor

I think you should go see Carlton in the Park (Garden City/Eisenhower Park) and Carylye on the Green in Bethpage/Bethpage State Park. Both are isolated areas, both are beautiful. Good Luck.

Forget Leonard's, it is right on Northern Blvd. and there is alot going on there. Crest Hollow is on Jericho Tpke. but it is set back from the street so it may still fit your criteria, it is not really my taste, but the food is good and the pool area is really pretty. There is also alot going on there, but the prices are very reasonable, it is definitely worth checking out if you like the style of the place. I don't know anything about the others. Good luck.

I haven't been to all of them - I can tell you I LOOOOOOVE the Milleridge Cottage, but didn't choose it for myself b/c a close family member just her her wedding there and I didn't want the family experiencing deja vu! Woodbury CC - my brother had his wedding there and they LOVED it!

That's about all I kow of the places you listed! Westbury Manor was also our #2 - did you look there?

Riveria; the one in Massapequa, right??? It is VERY nice and very affordable; 3 of my friends have gotten married there and we all grew up in 'Pequa'...

We got married at the Milleridge Cottage in July. I can't say enough wonderful things about it. It was the best decision I could have made!

NYLisa said it all.

The place is really nice. The staff is really nice and everyone cares about you and your day. Our menu has so much food on it that I am convinced everyone is gonig to be stuffed by the time the cake comes out.

Lisa and I will never see each other and our parties will never meet in a bathroom or even having a cigarette. But Lisa and I definatly plan on a photo opt.

It doesnt have grounds, but the food and service says it all

I am Getting married at the Swan Club. We went to look at a bunch of places before deciding and really after deciding on this. We looked at the woodbury country club and were not really impressed with the room JMO. I can tell you this about them They dont leave us alone they keep on calling my house and leaving really nasty messages how are your wedding plans? Are we in your list of places? Did you like it blah blah then they left a really nasty mesage on my Answering machine 'We do appreciate a call back' I appreciate you leave me alone.!!! They are just rude in my opinion and it turned me off right away.I also heard that they sell your name out to vendors like one girl who looked there and booked her wedding somewhere else got something from a vendor that said Congrats on your upcoming wedding at the Woodbury CC!!! good luck.

Here's another vote from A Milleridge Cottage Bride. They really worked with us on pricing & are so nice to deal with. I think that it is a special location because it feels more like a house than a catering hall. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask

I believe Manor East, Crest Hollow Counrty Club, and George Washington Manor are all on a main road. I may be wrong. Woodbury Country Club is on Jericho Turnpike, I was never there, but it looks nice. The Riviera is a bit secluded and the scenery is nice...

Manor East and Imperial Manor are both on major streets and they both don't really have grounds.

We looked at the Riviera and George Washington Manor. George Washington Manor is on a fairly busy street. You can hear traffic, though faintly, during your cocktail hour if the doors are open. The Riviera was off the main highway and therefore quieter. One reason we booked the Swan Club is because it was set back from the street, so we wouldn't be able to hear and see traffic. Didn't the Imperial Manor change names to Sterling Bethpage?

Re: Comments on reception locations.

my sister got married at the woodbury CC...I really don't remember much!! lol...so what I am saying is that it was a good time and nothing bad...

the only negative thing was that the bridal suite was small...but who cares...we were barely in there..

it was pouring that day...so it was nice that they have a beuatiful inside to take pictures in...

have you looked at the Swan Club in Roslyn...I thought it was beautiful there...and very reasonable...

Re: Comments on reception locations.

i am looking to have about 125 people, so i really do not want to be in a small crowded room. also something with a nice big dance floor because i love to do the electric slide (tradition at every wedding in my family). so almost everyone who comes need to fit on the dance floor.

Re: Comments on reception locations.

I have been to Crest Hollow and Leonards. I visited the other reception site GWM owners own and that is very different in style in comparison to CH and Leonards. It has more of a country feel. The other two are very big, elegant like. I love Leonards. They recently finished the renovations and it is beautiful if you are looking for that type of atmosphere.

I think you still should also consider where the venue is located. That was one of my main concerns. We visited Swan Club and although it is a very nice place, the location was horrible especially for our guests that live 45 minutes away from Long Island. If you were to get lost in that area in the dark (when our reception is) they would be LOST! Crest Hollow and Leonards are on two main roads with easier access to the parkways. So if the quiet and off the main roads is what you are looking for these two would not work for you.
Have you looked at the Swan Club?

I used to work at the Milleridge so I can tell you that you woill have a very nice wedding if you decide to book there. However it is on a main road and next door to a shopping center and office park.

have you heard of Bridgeview Yacht Club in Island Park? its right near the Long Beach Bridge - They only do one wedding at a time.

Re: Comments on reception locations.

thats what i was going to say...the swan club sounds perfect for you. Very isolated and very elegant. It was our second choice. It is very set back although it isnt one wedding at a time and thats what i really wanted. We went with stewart manor country club in new hyde park which is also beautiful but has houses right around it. Good luck!
