Re: Complaints from guests about hotel???
I haven't heard any complaints about my $169 rate..........YET......
Like someone else said, You can't please everyone...tell them that your room block is just the suggested and if they don't want to spend the $$$ they can find their own accomodations elsewhere.

Re: Complaints from guests about hotel???
I don't think $150 is expensive rate for a hotel. I stayed at hotels for two of my friends' weddings on LI and this is what I paid. For LI $150 is not bad at all.

Re: Complaints from guests about hotel???
OMG seriously if I had an issue about that I wouldn't even say it to someone and if any of my guests said something to me I think I'd snap. As if I have nothing better to do. Why not block some dump for $100 as well and let them choose

Re: Complaints from guests about hotel???
because of our day(wed), we got it for 109 a night. I almost fell on the floor, sooo freaking cheap! The hotel usually is around 170 for a random night, so we lucked out. Because of the cheap price, im afraid we might go over our block now. We are also doing a brunch the next morning for guests , another reason for someone to stay! Eek..brunch might cost a little more than we had hoped for!

Re: Complaints from guests about hotel???
I found that people will complain about anything they can. I got a rate of $149 a night in Key West, FL which is great for my wedding and they still complained there is no pleasing people. You know what you don't like it go somewhere else and find a room or sleep in your car at this rate because I have had it. People just don't know when to stop.

Re: Complaints from guests about hotel???
If anyone complains they can find their own room. But then they won't have a bus or a welcome bag, but no one is forcing them to stay at my room blocks. $149 was the best rate I could find in a hotel that would give me enough room blocks for the size of my OOT needs. I am sure people are complaining, particularly my friends, but not to me.
But we stayed last summer in Narragansett in a dumpy seashore motel and it cost us $200 a night, so next to that my friends who were at that wedding are not complaining about mine.

Mine are $169 for a Thurs, Fri, or Sat. night...but I agree, it's NY and that's just the way of it around here. I have already heard some mumblings- but just trying to ignore it!

Re: Complaints from guests about hotel???
That's not even that bad considering it's fairly peak. I mean, my rate is 85, and if we have anyone that even blocks a room I'll be shocked, but I'm sure someone will have something to say. At least you were considerate enough to block rooms for guests. We're going to a wedding this summer where we aren't OOT, but the reception is so far and late that it would probably make more sense to stay at a hotel for the night, and no rooms were blocked, and yes, that's inconvenient. So at least you thought enough to get a block, so they can deal.

If it makes you feel better my block is 250 and I def heard some complaints! Its a hotel on the beach on a holiday weekend! I was gonna do Newport and it was 600 a night with a 2 night minimum! IMAGINE?!
even that makes me but i mean, i understand the whole LI thing... most others who need a hotel dont 600 a night... i totally cannot imagine that one...
Yeah I know, but thats why I picked where I picked, you can stay if you want, and if you don't its cheaper to take a cab home...at least theres options!

Gina, I don't think so: Last year, on June 20/21, Debi's guests paid a few dollars less, at the Marriott in Farmingdale, and that was the special rate. Mary MOB

Re: Complaints from guests about hotel???
Tell them they dont have to stay there then! Are you kidding? I dont understand people I swear.. you took the time out of your life to actually book hotel blocks and then add that to the invite and poeple are complaining! please!
We booked two hotel blocks.. one at the Great Neck Inn and the Adria Ramada in Bayside (i think) well obviously the GNI is like right across the street from our RH and its Great Neck! Its expensive and its the July 4th weekend.. so the rate was 195 and that was the discounted rate!!! The Ramada was 135 and believe it or not, nobody has booked the Ramada everyone is at the Inn!!!

Re: Complaints from guests about hotel???
Yes, a few people have already started complaining about the $139 a night that I got for the room block.
One of my best friends actually had the nerve to ask that if she stayed somewhere else, could I have the shuttle stop and pick her and her lose BF up and drop them off! I said no. In order to get the shuttle, you have to stay at my hotel.
Oh and this is from a friend that I traveled to a destination wedding for (her first marriage) AND she now owns 2 houses and like 50 acres of land in Utah!
