Wait what are they complaining about that its too expensive? That price was actually better than what Hilton Garden Inn was offering me the 1st time... I also ended up going with your hotel.

People that are OOT dont understand that Long Island is a bit more expensive. I havent had anyone complain exactly, but I have heard a comment that an upstate hotel for my friends wedding will cost less than what my hotel is charging.

Oh well.... if they dont like the price, then they can go find a Hojo or something lol

Yup, I booked rooms at two hotels, one cheaper and one pricier and I got complaints about the cheaper $129 rate and the pricier rate. I just assumed that OOT guests don't know LI and the area. I'm not letting it get me down though. Let them do their own research and stay whereverz

159 is a GREAT rate for saturday night!

I booked at 2 reasonable places but On my webpage I listed a few nicer places as well as the info to hotels.com in case my guests wanted to find something on their own that worked best for their budget.

haha yes, a hojo might just be a tad cheaper... even then, i wouldnt expect a deep disount... the rate is apparently very high according to my uncle and parents... I told them its normally 200 a night there... so i mean what else would you like me to do? i wasnt going to block rooms to begin with but went out of my way calling places so guests wouldnt have to look around on their own... oh well... cant make everyone happy right

I would not even worry about anybody having problems with it .. If they dont like the price, then I guess let them research it themselves !!!!!!!!! The hotel we blocked is also $159 for a friday and saturday night... it was the cheapest we found, so we blocked them. There is no way you will ever make everyone happy .... !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didnt get complaints but I got a rate of 129 and you cant really beat that on LI unless you want an hourly

I think people dont understand what hotel rates are really like on LI.....159 is a good rate.

Yup we got complaints from OOT family about the $129 friday & saturday rates. PITA!!!!!!!!!

FH ended up booking 3 rooms and paying for them for his family just so they'd stop complaining and come to the wedding. Oy vey.

If they REALLY think that's expensive, then they should book one room and split it between 4 people!!! Geez. We're all not getting married in the boonies, where you can get a family-owned motel room for $49/night, where they right on a sign above the toilet, 'please don't throw butts in the commode.' (True story. I lived this!!!) These are NICE places outside of what's still considered the NYC metro area, and they're coming here in the summer. I'm surprised I haven't gotten any complaints about $119/night yet!!!!

If it makes you feel better my block is 250 and I def heard some complaints! Its a hotel on the beach on a holiday weekend! I was gonna do Newport and it was 600 a night with a 2 night minimum! IMAGINE?!

You're fine some people just like to B!tch and moan. If they would like to make some phonecalls and try to find someplace cheaper, let them.

Ugh, I literally just went through this today with FH...I told him we'd probably be able to get a rate around $146 and he bugged out 'OMG, my friends can't afford that!!!!'

Honey...its NY, not Ohio. I know you're used to Ohio, but NY is expensive, especially by Port Jeff in the middle of the summer. Just because we blocked a hotel doesn't mean they have to stay there. There's a Motor Inn in the same town that's $90/night.

People just don't get it...and what KILLS me is the rooms for FSIL's wedding are $300/night and you don't see ME complaining!!!!
