It was cluttered with crap. Top to bottom. Every closet had crap, papers, flyers, paint cans still filled with paint, old clothing from the 90's, old old dressers, tv stands, shampoo and condintioner leaky in the upstairs shower stall, a chicken cutlet on the stove, a box of garbage sitting in the middle of the basement, more paint cans and epoxy, a 486 compuer, a broken stairclimber, Christmas wrapping paper in the cubby holes in the loft, a broken stool, nasty shelving still half up....
W T F do I do now? I had people over last night and all I heard from my father was how bad the condition was left in. I wanted to cry. Finally I just freaked and starting yelling at everyone. If were to see pictures you would be upset too. It just bothers me more to have to hear it over and over.
What do I do now???
I also had a neighbor telling me to hurry up and change teh locks beacsue teh former owners friend was living in our basement and she told her she wasn't moving out. Great. Who else will be there when I get there? I am changing the locks next week.

Sorry .. nothing surprises me with people these days .. and I am so very sorry you're having to go through this instead of being able to celebrate with complete joy and happiness.
Everyone else has left you good advice .. and with as bad as the place looks .. take pictures (as already suggested) .. first and foremost .. for your own protection .. you'll have them if you need to produce evidence .. but second .. so you have them to look back on .. it will be your reminder as to what you started with .. and make you proud with where you've gone.
Re: Condition of the home when I got in to it last night
Just got home, her lawyer promised teh hosue woudl be completely clutter free by midnight, so we, liek idiots, stayed until midnight. Crap everywhere. She did throw somee stuff away, but 90% is in there and 10% (ready for this?????) is on my g-damn lawn!!! I am so upset! My parents came over and started throwing things out and I said NO! I did not pay a few hundred thousand dollars for this junk! Best of all which really pissed me off even more was that they left the lights on in MY House when they left! MY HOUSE! MY ELECTRICITY! SO I notified teh lawyer and I have to wait until mornign for the status. Post more when Brian gets there tomorrow morning.

I'm sorry
Change your locks though, immediately...don't wait.
Re: Condition of the home when I got in to it last night
I am afraid it I change the locks today that they will have an excuse not to get teh stuff out. There has to be atleast 25-30 cans of paint around that house. It's sick. Can you see used paint at a garage sale? I could make a fortune on that's alone!
We put all of our painting stuff in one bedroom and Brian will attempt to start on the bedroom and front room today. Let's see what happens.

I'm sorry to hear about this. Get a hold of your lawyer. Did you do a final walk through before closing?

You don't want them to give them the opportunity of getting into the house when you are not there, now that you officially own it. Especially if you already have stuff in there, even if its just painting supplies. Call your attorney.

I am so sorry this B_tch is putting you through this. You are pregnant and do not need the aggravation. Did you speak to the lawyer? What did he say? I will be over there to help you clean. Just let me know if there is anything I can do!
Re: Condition of the home when I got in to it last night
Lawyer said that in the contract, it said she had 7 days to get absolutley everything out or she has to pay us $150 a day. Great! I am getting the locks changed on Saturday AM, It's only $15 per lock to have a cyliner rekeyed as opposed to $89 to come to the house per lock! ATleast I will have the same ANtique gold finish. I am so mad right now, it's unbelievable.

usually in the contract you have a section where it the house should be given in broom clean condition. and if not then a dumpster is to be provided along with help to remove materials.
Re: Condition of the home when I got in to it last night
Now she threw in a nsaty comment that I went to see the house 17 times before closing. I am pissed! I was there, 7 MAYBE 8 times including the walk through!
ANd she will not be back to remove the stuff!!!!!

That's BS Laurie!!! WHo gives a rats a$$ if you were there every day for 90 days straight - she's supposed to leave the place EMPTY. Even stupid people know what empty means. Ignore her snide remarks because they don't mean crap.

What BULLSH!$! So sorry you're still dealing with this. So, now if she's refusing to get everything out and it's in your contract that she has to pay you $150 per day can't your lawyer fight with them about it? Argghh! I'm so angry for you! I can't believe some people!
Re: Condition of the home when I got in to it last night
Well they got someone to clean up most of the crap out of teh garage, I bolted the side door last night so they couldn't get in from there and I am going to change the locks first thing tomorrow morning. ANd that's about it. I asked Brian to please move teh couch out so I didn't get upset seeing it, and he looked so sad and showed me why it's still down there. It's a f*ing sleeper sofa! The thing weighs a ton! I am going to have to wait for his friends to come out and help us move it. Garbage will be in my garage until 12/13 when teh bulk will be picked up. I am going to put on a mask and clean out as much as I can tonight and my mother will help me clean the grime in the kitchen. ANd I am anal, I was there 8 times including engineer day and walk through. I am so mad! ANd she lives four blocks from me! Our kids will be two months apart and go to the same elementary schools...!!!
My RE agent kept saying she was a b**** and I was like no, she is nice. SHe just has a 'hard' personality. Now I see why! The RE agent saw the condition of the house on Wednesday and she said she has never ever seen a home in her 20-something years in business that was left in that condition. So Brian wil be there tonigth spackling and painting and hopefully I will be able to move in on 12/01 as planned...
THE END!
