(this seems to be pretty common among travelers) She said they just squat and let it all hang out
* another man blew his nose into his hand and then threw it on the floor
* anohter man tried to check in a suitcase filled with DOODIE-he stunk up the whole place

I was so skeeved out, what the hell is wrong with people

AND dont tell me about cultural differences because I will come to your house and take a crap on your front lawn

Yes your own cultural standard BUT not when they are unsanitary and downright disgusting, Feces is so contaminate do you know what you can get from that so I should get sick because someone decided they needed to take a crap in the middle of JFK I think not!

Culturally it could be considered natural if they believe that as long as they take in natural then how could it be dirty

Hey.. remember.. out there in our great big world.. we have cultures that take live kitty cats and dip them in hot oil to skin them and serve them up as food... other places cherish the rat.. Some like snakes.. who am I to judge?

Still.. Id RATHER they didn't poop in front of me. Heck I'd rather they didnt poop in the stall next to me, but what can I do?

I've had to learn to adapt to what most New Yorkers find normal. The smells and things I've seen while in New York in the past four years I would NEVER thought I could deal with and deal with an open mind.

But.. I have to admit and Im not ashamed to say this although I am sure most here may disagree or be angry.. but honestly.. I wouldnt want my children being raised in NYC. Yes yes yes.. I know.. that means they wont have that exposure and de-sensitized and blah blah.. but I wasn't raised here and I don't think im THAT insane and I think Im pretty well adjusted although set in my ways.. those American Ways.. (or Texan if you prefer).

Xelindra If I come to your house and take a **** on the floor and say this is the way I was raised, that would be acceptable? If I sneeze on you and a snot gets stuck to your arm and I have the flu, you wouldnt be pissed?

And there is a law in this country about 'common decency' You get a ticket for shitting and pissing in public. THey need to impose this more.

haha ok you cannot tell me that taking a dump in the middle of an airport is logical accrding to any culture out there. i've been to india and it really doesn't get much dirtier than that! and i never saw a person take a dump in the middle of a buiding! that's just DISGUSTING!

And another thing, where do we draw the line. If its customary in my country to kill someone with no penalty, should I assume that if I kill someone here that I should not go to jail?

its not natural to crap wherever you want to. Maybe in other countries its ok, but ever notice how many diseases other countries have that we don't. Its because of poor sanitation.
Maybe if they stopped crapping all over the place, more children wouldnt die of horrible disease because of filth!!!

I AGREE!! THESE PEOPLE ARE GROSS AND DISGUSTING I dont' want to sound mean rude or insensitive but im CONSTANTLY grossed out by stuff I see in NYC. But i've learned to shut up and deal. I REALLY just dont want to insult anyone here is all. Cause god knows I dont get half the stuff that people do.

Im just saying I've been told when I do complain that Im a B*tch or a Racist or some other nasty word, so I stopped complaining. I dont' know how being an American saying 'Dude that's disgusting' makes me the bad guy but I found out it does.

Im trying very hard here to not express or list the other things I see that I find nasty and offensive here in NYC.

YEs, I know.. if you don't like it.. leave... but why.. its my country dang it.. my 'people' were here before everyone else and it's a city that I work in and need to make money.. so 'fine then shut up about it'.. and THAT's why im trying (badly, if you cant tell ) to do.. Trying HARD !

I come from a very poor, war ridden country (okay my parents did) and they and I have MANNERS! Some people are just downright disgusting no matter where they come from.

When I left I was like.. 'OOOOH New York City.. imagine that .. how grand how wonderful how new and exciting... all the hip people and places..'
No one warned me of the other stuff.

I’ve told Jim that if I could get this job in Texas at the same pay I make in NYC (my office lets you take your pay with you) he better pack his bags. I miss Central AC, butterflies in the spring, the no state tax, no city tax, no county tax, the breeze off the coast, the people, the riverwalk, Fiesta, the manners and the atmosphere.

Jim actually agrees, he served in the Air Force and was stationed in San Antonio.

I try to go home (Texas) at least once year.. if nothing else.. for BBQ and to reset my mannerisms. But NYC is where the money is and after all coming here got me Jim !!!

This is America.. country of acceptance and a country that embraces other cultures.. free speech and free live and freedom to live by your own cultural standards.

I was also told:
Your cultural habits may see disgusting to them.. ever think about that.

I think the key word here is 'culture' and wHere is the 'culture' in blowing your nose into your hand or taking a dump in the subway, or, one of my personal favorites, cutting your nails in the subway with loud crackling sounds! I would call it the lack of 'culture'!
