This is very true also, I feel that people are going to do it no matter what, might as well have a little regulation on it. And make it safe for all.

I see your point. Just for discussion sake, the same can be said about drug use. Now why isn't that legal? The same arguement for abortion can be applied to legalizing drugs . It's my body, my choice, and if it's going to happen anyway, why not make it safe and legal? (hope I'm not going too OT here, and No, I don't use drugs, just posing a question!)

Your right, but I defenitly do not believe in leagalizing drug use. See drug use could also affect people outside of the person making the decision. Meaning a woman is making the decision to have an abortion and it effects her and her baby only. But when people use drugs it could affect people outside the situation, like say someone who is high on drugs decides to drive a car.

To play devil's advocate here, what is the difference between drugs and alcohol or nicotine (i.e. cigarettes)? Both of the latter can have consequences for people other than the users, but they both remain legal.

Well like abortion nicotine is something you do to yourself also. Alchool is a touchy subject, but I defenitly am against Drunk Driving which is illegal.

And i guess this question is really hard since i am not in this situation and
to try to predict what i would do is hard. But i was curious as girls
in our 20's and 30's...what did you think?

Interesting question...I'm pro-choice, regardless always have been and will always be, although I don't agree with abortion being used as a form of birth control. I wouldn't change my opinion just because a small percentage take advantage though.

I know of so many stories, different scenarios, birth control was used, the pill wasn't effective, and in one case the guy INTENTIONALLY got the girl pregnant to trap her into marriage (very long, detailed and psychotic story). It's usually not just a black and white issue.

Of course. But what if drugs were legal, while driving under the influence of them were still illegal? In a way I think of it as a double standard, b/c alcohol is a drug too - just a socially acceptable one. But no less dangerous.

I totally agree. But do we really need another reason for people
to drive while impaired

It's my body! It's my choice and don't try to take that away from me!

TO me abortion involves a decision about you and your body....

Drug use CAN cause harm to others that are not involved..
so i have to say i think that drugs should be illega

That is where another debate regarding abortion comes in...TO YOU it only involves you and your body...but what about the unborn child? Does it not effect him/her? Some people see the fetus as a nonperson at that stage, others disagree. If you are one of the latters then you ARE harming more than just yourself - you are harming a baby.

Im not trying to argue with you - just trying to point out the complications involved in such a debate...

I know I already answered this but I just want to say that I want the choice! I really really want the choice if I ever needed it.

I agree that alcohol and nicotine are drugs, the same as cocaine or pot. Why are some legal and not others?
I'll admit I love a drink and a smoke , but the laws are so hypocritical.

I think that the abortion issue comes down to the question of when does life begin? Life, and the definition of it is so subjective though.

It really is about choice. If you believe something is wrong, don't do it.

Not to sound like a b!tch, but this isn't much of a debate. Everyone so far has had the same opinion - everyone is pro-choice.

I was pro choice, but now that I am in medical school, I am not. A baby at 21 weeks reached out and held the doctors hand, while doing an in utero spinal bifida surgery.. At 21 weeks, some fetuses can still be aborted I AM NOW ANTI!!!!!!! Unless there is harm to the baby or mother...but as a form of birth control absolutely NOTbaby samuel
