What are your views on abortion? I am not talking about for those that are under 20 years of age, nor am i talking about rape victims... I am talking about your average 20-30 something person who finds themselves pregnant?

It's my body! It's my choice and don't try to take that away from me!

Re: controversial topic...
If we are talking about me, I personally would not have an abortion (age 20-30, not rape victim). However I do believe women should have the right to choose and a right to privacy.

I personaly would never, but I only believe in it for life or death situations or for rape victims.

no matter if it is legal or not, it is still going to exist...so the choice comes down to this: keep it safe, private and personal or leave her to her own resources which are dirty, horrendous and dangerous...if it were your daughter, which would you want for her? personally, if i had a daughter and it was her only option, then i would want it to be safe and performed by someone who wouldn't leave her to die. just my opinion.

This is very true also, I feel that people are going to do it no matter what, might as well have a little regulation on it. And make it safe for all.

I remember seeing the first 'if these walls could talk' and I think it was demi moore's character who got an illegal abortion in her kitchen...that was horrible.

yes yes yes... for some of us this is purely hypothetical and if it was a reality who knows how we would really act

Hm. I'm very divided on abortion.
While agree that a woman should have a choice to do what ever she wants with her body, there is something about abortion that strikes me as inherently wrong (maybe it is my catholic upbringing). Therefore, I would not chose it for myself. It seems to me that abortion is too often used as birth control, and I can't agree with that. There are so many methods of birth control so widely available, you would think these many unplanned pregnancies would not be happening. One thing I absolutley cannot understand or support is the third trimester abortions. There is no justification for it IMO. In a truly life threatening situation where no other option is possible, then maybe it could be justified. But sadly, that is not always the case.
Abortion is not something I would chose for myself, as it is the ending of a life, IMO. However, I don't feel I'm in any position to force my beliefs on any one else.

I think women should have the right to chose.
I would hate to see abortion used as a form of birth control (meaning multiple abortions not an accident) but I don't think there should be a criterea (sp?) in order to get one.
I agree with Cocoa that regardless of the law, people will continue to have them and I think they should be performed safely in a professional office.

I see your point. Just for discussion sake, the same can be said about drug use. Now why isn't that legal? The same arguement for abortion can be applied to legalizing drugs . It's my body, my choice, and if it's going to happen anyway, why not make it safe and legal? (hope I'm not going too OT here, and No, I don't use drugs, just posing a question!)

wendypoo...well said but let's face it, unless you are abstinent (sp?) accidents CAN happen. A friend of mine got pregnant and was on the pill which is 98% affective
And how many of us actually use more than 1 form of birth control???

Your right, but I defenitly do not believe in leagalizing drug use. See drug use could also affect people outside of the person making the decision. Meaning a woman is making the decision to have an abortion and it effects her and her baby only. But when people use drugs it could affect people outside the situation, like say someone who is high on drugs decides to drive a car.

Interesting point...
But i guess a question of mine is that as you get older should that imply more responsibility for your actions... and it's consequences

TO me abortion involves a decision about you and your body....
Drug use CAN cause harm to others that are not involved.. so i have to say i think that drugs should be illega

No matter how I feel personally about abortion, I will never ever ever support legislation that deprives women of their right to decide what to do with their bodies.
