Re: cookie recipe help
I usually just follow the recipe on the back of a bag of Toll House chocolate chips - or Ghiradelli chips if I feel like spending a little more. Depends on who I'm making them for, LOL!
Anyway, it's just a classic chocolate chip cookie recipe. I usually add nuts. I like nuts.

Easy. Delicious. You'll look like a champ!!
Almond Macaroons: Makes about 2 dozen 2-inch cookies. Bake on parchment paper.
Ingredients 3 cups blanched slivered almonds (12 ounces), 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar 1/3 cup large egg whites , plus 1 tablespoon, from about 3 large eggs 1 teaspoon almond extract
Instructions 1. Set racks in upper-middle and lower-middle levels of oven and heat oven to 325 degrees. Line two large cookie sheets with parchment paper.
2. Chop almonds in food processor using metal chopping blade for 1 minute. Add sugar; process 15 seconds longer. Add whites and extract; process until the paste wads around blade. Scrape sides and corners with spatula; process until stiff (similar in consistency to marzipan or pasta dough), about 5 seconds longer. If mixture is crumbly or dry, turn machine back on and add water by drops until proper consistency is reached.
3. Spoon 2 tablespoons per cookie. about 1 1/2 inches apart. Or roll it into 1-inch balls
4. Bake macaroons, switching cookie sheet positions midway through baking, until golden brown, 20 to 25 minutes. Leave macaroons on papers until completely cooled. (Can be stored in an airtight container for at least 4 days or frozen up to 1 month.)

Ricotta Cheese Cookies I LOVE these!
INGREDIENTS 2 cups white sugar 1 cup butter, softened 15 ounces ricotta cheese 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 2 eggs 4 cups all-purpose flour 2 tablespoons baking powder 1 teaspoon salt
In a medium bowl combine flour, baking powder and salt.
In a large bow, with the mixer a low speed, beat the sugar and butter until combined. Increase speed to high and beat until light and fluffy (about 5 minutes). Reduce speed to medium and beat in the ricotta, vanilla and eggs (one at a time).
Reduce speed to low. Add flour mixture; beat until dough forms.
Drop dough by level tablespoons, about 2 inches apart; onto the baking sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes or until cookies are very lightly golden (cookies will be soft).
When cookies are cool, prepare icing. In small bowl, stir confectioners' sugar and milk until smooth. With small spreader, spread icing on cookies; I sprinkle with colored sugar sprinkles when the icing is still wet.

How do you make cookies from a box of cake batter? I have never heard of that.

Re: cookie recipe help
I agree that the Toll House bag's recipe is the best. I replace the brown sugar with the BROWNULATED sugar and add walnuts, and it's the best!
