Coral House or Sans Souci-- Any Feedback??

Hello Ladies,
I'm getting married next year and I'm planning to have about 110 guests. I was considering booking my reception at either Coral House or Sans Souci.
Does anyone have any feedback about either place -good or bad? I would really appreciate your responses..

Re: Coral House or Sans Souci-- Any Feedback??

Hi. I am a Coral House Bride to Be and am very excited about it.

Firstly you must determine what your needs and wants are. Both places are at different ends of the spectrum, Coral House being Colonial/Victorian and Sans Souci being more contemporary a little more glitzy.

I think Coral House offers a great package at an affordable price. It is very pretty and quaint.
The food is excellent and there is lots of it. The staff is amazing they have been very accomodating and helpful.

Do a search there are a bunch of topics .

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask, there are about 4 of us on this board currently.

Re: Coral House or Sans Souci-- Any Feedback??

I don't know when you're planning your wedding for, but I recently looked into Sans Souci for a saturday night in the summer of '04, and I believe their minimum was 150? It might be less in the winter months? I also looked into coral house, and I liked it a lot, but FH thought there was too much going on at once.

Re: Coral House or Sans Souci-- Any Feedback??

I only looked at San Souci during my planning, and I have to say that I disagree with nvrbrd. It is not contemporary or glitzy at all. It is very quaint and elegant, and very Victorian in the true sense. It is on the north shore (with a waterview) and is considered one of the original Gold coast mansions.

If you are looking for a venue that has olde world charm, I think you might like San Souci. For us, it was just too small, and I didn't like how the dance floor was separate from the area where the tables are.

Re: Coral House or Sans Souci-- Any Feedback??

My mistake Claud, maybe I was mixing it up with another location. I have seen so many.

Josie, please make the decision that is best for you and let us know what you decide.

Re: Coral House or Sans Souci-- Any Feedback??

I'm not sure how many parties they hold at once, , but when we went to look at Coral House, there were two weddings, and a sweet sixteen going on, and LOTS of people milling around in the lobby. I didn't mind it, but FH was like, no. definitely not. It was really pretty though, and the price was right, and I've heard nothing but good things about the food.

edited to say: FH was so dead set against it since we'd be a fairly small party there, and for some reason he didn't like the idea? I dunno, he's hard to explain sometimes :)

Re: Coral House or Sans Souci-- Any Feedback??

I want to say 3-4. That is what my BM said to be, but then again it depends on the time of the year and day.

Re: Coral House or Sans Souci-- Any Feedback??

i called Coral House & they said that they have about 2 on a given saturday night, but that it doesn't cause too much disruption..my fh also noted that there seemed to be a lot going on when we went but he said it's up to me..but i'm indecisive.

Re: Coral House or Sans Souci-- Any Feedback??

in terms of rooms, what do you coral house brides think of the Nantucket Deck Room? (since i have a smaller party thats where they told me to go & I liked it), but i've heard the Americana room is very nice.

sorry if i am repeating questions you coral house brides may have heard but i'm sure you know how hard it can be to make a decision on where to have your reception

Re: Coral House or Sans Souci-- Any Feedback??

Josie the multiple parties was a BIG concern of mine. I have communicated with past Coral House Brides and they said while there were other functions going on the staff was so on top of things that you barely noticed. My BM knows how worried I am about this and she assures me she will stay on top of things.

Winter Wedding

Has any of you been to a 'Winter Wedding'? If so, what did you think? Do you think its better towards the end of November or in December?

The reason is I ask is that I am afraid that if I do it in December, it may be too close too Christmas & my guests may either be making vacation plans or may be strapped for cash due to Christmas shopping & may not want to go to a wedding during that time...

Re: Coral House or Sans Souci-- Any Feedback??

Josie, I have the Nantucket Deck room. It is a beautiful room. I love the pink wallpaper and the overall decor. It has a nice view of the Lake. The Americana is spectacular. I love it, but it is best suited for larger parties 180 persons and up. A small party would be lost in that room. BTW it is about $10pp more and the minimum for the room is higher.

Keep the questions coming, I do not mind.

Re: Coral House or Sans Souci-- Any Feedback??

thanks nrvbrd, so how long ago did you start planning your wedding? I was thinking of doing it in September or October of next year as well, but i'm not sure if that will give me enough time to get everything together
