Cost of church

Is anyone else paying $900 to get married at a Roman Catholic church? FH still can't believe how pricey it is.

P.S. The cost includes the organist, singer, and people to clean up after the mass. It also covers the pre-Cana class we are going to (which is only one day, on a Saturday).

We're doing a full mass too- we're getting our money's worth LOL!

wow thats a LOT-- i wanna say mine is like $500 or $525? don't remember exactly the paperwork is at my parents

My cost is under $500, that includes church, organist, singer and tip for alter servers. I also belong to a small church.

our church is $750 and includes the organ player

ours is 950 but that is because we are not members of that parish so they charged 200 extra but the 950 includes the music.

$50.00- Soloist
$25.00-Custodian
$250.00- Pastor
$200.00-Church

We are also getting married in a Methodist church since we had so many issues with the Catholic Church. Its all about the money with them. The price they gave you is outrageous.

This was a cost that I was blown away by. Ours was $1,100!!! On top of that we had to find our own priest to marry us bc of the time we got married and then tipped him a few hundred for doing that for us. If you add the marriage license and pre-cana our total 'Church Expenses' were almost $1,500.

Were at $600 and that includes music but we had to pay an extra $75 for pre-cana...

Wow everyone is paying so much! That's crazy. FH and I were budgeting about $1000 based on the stories from our friends. When I went to reserve the date for my wedding I was shocked to hear our price, $250, which includes $100 for the priest, $75 to the organist and $75 for a singer. It might be so much less since my family and I have been members at my church for over 20 years. I think the Pre-Cana is another $100. My brother is getting married at a church were he and his wife are not members and they are paying $900, which I think it includes a member fee. And they call it a donation.

I'm paying $450 for my FH's Lutheran Church.

We are getting married at St Patricks in Bay Shore, and the current suggested donation is $1100, but we were told its expected to go up a little in 2013. It includes everything (music, pre cana, etc).

That's my church!!! We aren't getting married there because FH wanted to do it at the venue and Pastor Lange retired this summer :(

They're awesome, so glad they're working with you! I taught Sunday School there for 5 years, baptized and confirmed haha. Love them.

Thats so awesome!!! I heard the old Pastor retired but the new one is really nice and actually grew up at that church. The beginning part of my wedding is vintage feeling and the church is so perfect for it! Do you go to services? We were thinking about going one Sunday.

So are we, $1,100, I hope were not going to be expected to pay their 'increase', It is the most important part of the day but $1,100 is alot to begin with!
