Cost of church
Wow that is a lot!! I'm not positive but I'm pretty sure my uncle (who is a Catholic priest) said that the church cannot ask for a donation over 4 or 5 hundred... maybe the organist and singer is a lot???

Cost of church
Ours is $525 for church and music and then an extra 25 since we need alter servers for the full mass. So in total $550.

Now i'm nervous. I think ours is 500, but it is not our parish..I wonder if they'll charge extra. And we have to pay our parish $75 to do pre cana but I was happy they let us do it there

Re: Cost of church
I feel like all R.C. churches should be the same price across the board if they are part of the diocese of Rockville Centre. I can't understand why St. Pat's would be even pricier than St. Cyril.

Re: Cost of church
My pre-cana is $300 alone (and the FOCCUS survey)!! I'm doing it at the diocese level (Rockville Centre) instead of the parish level but I didn't think it made a difference. I wish I researched it more

Cost of church
The more I see this the more Im so happy we are getting married at a Methodist church. Us not being able to get married at a Catholic Church was a blessing in disguise. We dont have to pay nearly as much, no precana, no focus, no annulment and our mass is just like a Catholic Mass with communion and everything.

Cost of church
We're paying $900 for the church , including organist etc. plus $125 for Pre-Cana and not including tips. A family counselor who volunteers with the chur h just called the other day to make an appointment with us to review our FOCCUS answers. I was busy do I asked he to call FH. I wish I hadn't. FH went nuts on her because we're paying so much for the church and everything and now we have to go to her in Lynbrook instead of the church in Merrick. I was mortified. Later I found out her called her back and apologize but not before I lost my marbles! Needless to say neither of us expected this expense.

Cost of church
Some parishes are considered to be 'rich' parish by comparison to others. I tend to think the parishes charge what they think the 'market' (that being their parishioners) will bear. But really, a few hundred for music is nothing when you stop to think about how much your band or DJ is charging per hour. When you pay the church fee, you're paying for the officiant and the location (at least an hour and usually more) and the clean up afterwards. When you add up the costs, it's not always much cheaper if you have the officiant come to the RH and then have to pay the RH extra for having the ceremony there. (I suppose you could always make the reception shorter...)
We all know how expensive LI weddings are but I don't really think we can complain about the Church costs any more than we can complain about the cost of our RH, DJ, Photographer/Videographer.

thank you - i was just thinking the same thing.
ours is 350/600 (parishioners/non), 235 organist/soloist, plus small tip for servers. but in the end, thats really so minor compared to everything else. im honestly surprised they dont ask for more. especially since THIS is the most important part of the whole day!!!!!
