Cost of your centerpieces

Original post by aim325

What is everyone spending on their CPs? Please list what type(s) of flowers; high or low; any extras (e.g., votives).

Mine are low with a lot of stuff in season, which is easy in June, $75/each. Flowers may be the only place you can save money by NOT going off season for your wedding.

I don't have a pic yet since I haven't seen sample CP's yet, but here's what my contract from Flower Michele (I dealt with John) states:

'10 Low glass vases of green and ivory hydrangea, blizzard roses, and white and very light blush peony. No exposed greenery or ferns.'

'10 Tall on 26X5 pilsner style glass vases of same flowers, full, lush look. No exposed greenery or ferns.'

The low CP's are $95 each, the high are $160 each.

HTH!

ETA: That also includes votives at the base of the CP

does anyone else find it ridiculous to spend $100-$250 per centerpiece for something that is going to DIE in a few hours?

I can't believe how much some of you girls are spending. I am trying to make my own centerpieces with candles and petals and such for about $25-$30 a piece. Hopefully I can pull this off because I can't handle spending that much.

I felt the same when I first started thinking about flowers, but then I realized how much they transformed the look of a room and they became a big priority for me. Everyone has their list of wedding 'must haves' and lots of flowers was definitely it for me.

A really great option for getting extended use out of CPs rather than spending all that money for one day is to donate them to local hospitals. During the Cake Walk at Grand Central, there was a woman's group there that would come to your reception hall, pick up the flowers, and bring them to patients at local hospitals. I thought this was a really fantastic idea

First - mine are $75 for a low centerpiece w/ hydrangeas roses and several other types - ivy and rose petals - it's alot more than i wanted to spend and i really wanted candle centerpieces but my hall was not accomodating.

second i would love more info on the donations if you have any! i think that is a phenomenal idea!!!

Unfortunately, I don't have the contact info for the representative I met at Cake Walk. I did find this info on Ultimate Wedding.com though which could be a great alternative:

1. Consider donating your flowers and centerpiece arrangements. You can contact your local hospital, although usually hospitals will have an overabundance of flowers. However, many times you can drop off your arrangements at senior retirement homes. Just be sure to make the plans in advance with the community and many times you can drop off the flowers in the dining and lounge areas.

If you plan to donate flowers, also keep in mind that some guests may plan to take your arrangements home. In this instance you will want to leave a note at the table notifying the guests of your intentions (for example: flowers will be donated to the Chestnut Hill Senior Living Community), or the MC of the night may make an announcement to the group to prevent this from occurring

Re: Cost of your centerpieces

Well for our centerpieces I wanted something fun and bright and fun. When I started researching for this wedding, the flowers that screamed luscious to me were peonies and calla lillies. Peonies aren't in my season, but callas are, so they will make up my entire bouquet. But when I think bright and fun, that is when I found gerbera daisies. Nice big bright heads. You can float them or stand a few up in a tall vase. They cheer me up!

My centerpieces will be 6-10 gerbera daisies - all orange. The vase will have water with white stones. I can't wait to see what it turns out like. An that will cost me $35-40 table.

Yes, it is alot of money, but it was in my budget and that's what I wanted. Flowers were important to me. People that took them home said they lasted over a week.

Just as you think I was crazy to spend as much as I did, I think it would have been crazy for me to spend $25-30 a piece.

i agree completely!! i love flowers and i had the money in my budget so i chose to spend it on a lot of flowers. i would never frown upon someone else's choices just b/c they differ from what i choose to do. people should do whatever makes them happy and it's not ridiculous to want what you want.

BTW, my CP's are high on silver stands (like candleabras) and they are going to have all roses, hydrangeas, peonies, & hanging amarantheus... topiary-style, a big round ball of flowers, tight, no BB, no greenery with votives hanging from them w/ little candles in them. then at the base of the CP is another cluster of the same flowers that are in the top. they are about $200 a piece and I am having about 20-22 tables. the colors will match my scheme (reds, whites, ivory, and greens)...

we are donating them at the end of the night to a hospital and nursing home.

Flowers by Brian did ours and they cost $175 per CP. I told them exactly what i wanted in it and they made it come to life. It has casablanca lillies, calla lillies, roses, hydrangeas, stock and orchids at the corners and in the base of the vase. Here is a pic:

Re: Cost of your centerpieces

$0.00... ours are included! They will be 10 pink carnations in a clear fishbowl vase with greens and fillers. The package piece was 6 roses but carnations are my favorite and all other flowers will be carnations so they bumped it up to 10!

CP's are not a big deal to me because we will be married on the water with surrounding window and great views. I'm thinking the focus will not be on the CP's.
