Dad's and Tux's
I am gonna scream! People are driving me nuts over silly things. But that's too long of a story to post.My mom wants to get my dad to get charcoal gray vest and tie. Mom and I picked it out when my FI went and put in the order for tux's months ago. FI forgets this occurred and of course never tells his dad. His dad picked his this weekend and of course picks charcoal gray (which doesn't match the mom's dress at all so who know why he picked it..she said she is wearing brown/beige lace). Now, my mom is upset because she thinks it will look stupid if it matches. I said it doesn't matter. FI is too scared to tell his mom. FI's family always gets first choice of everything and my family always gives in, but in this case we really think charcoal gray is my dad's only option (we don't want to do black).
What do you think? For those dad's that are wearing a vest, what color did they get and how did it fit into the color scheme? Are the 2 dad's matching each other?

My FI picked out matching tuxes for my Dad, his Dad, and FBIL. They are all black. FI tux will have a different color vest and tie. I thought this was how it was supposed to be.

Re: Dad's and Tux's
our dads did not match - my dad wore a silver & black vest. His dad had a black vest. The groomsmen had different black vests with the same design as my husband's ivory vest.Neither of our fathers took their jackets off all night - so I'd be surprised if anyone even noticed if your father and FIL match.

I am the same as Jenny, I have no idea what to tell you because my fh just says yes to me so that I don't nag him anymore about getting the tuxes!!!But I think fh will have a different vest and everyone else will match

Re: Dad's and Tux's
The fathers can have the same tux. That is not a breach of etiquette at all. Of course if your FMIL wears beige the gray will not look as nice as a golden color. If you really want them to be a bit different get them each a different bot.

Re: Dad's and Tux's
i think its fine that the fathers match...no big deal at all...and fathers usually don't care if they have the same color on...its usually the mothers that worry about that...
actually my mom wore light blue and MIL wore dark blue...
there are bigger fish to fry...

Re: Dad's and Tux's
yabbo - I so agree with you. If I gave my dad a polka dot tux he would wear it and love it. The mom's are the ones that are picky.michele-I did order them different bout - I have to tell my mom that. I too think a golden color would look better with a brownish dress - even my FI agreed.
There are so many bigger things to worry about...but of course mom's are worrying!

Re: Dad's and Tux's
I'm not sure yet, but I think I will have the Dads match each other - and then the GM match each other and my FH be in a different one.

Re: Dad's and Tux's
i had a similar dilemma....i originally wanted to match each father to their spouse, but then my FMIL was very late in buying a dress and i couldnt wait any longer....the tux guy said the fathers should wear black tie and vest, but i thought that was a bit morbid....too much black with the vest and all....so we settled on a charcoal gray for both dads....apparently the dads shouldnt match their wives, they should match each other!
hope this helps...
