Re: damm the mouse is back
Get some glue traps. Those can be better than the poison. If it eats the poison and it dies... thats great. However the dead rat will start to smell bad and that can be rather annoying to find the source of the smell.
Get some glue traps. Place them along the walls in the kitchen and bathroom. The mouse will require food and drink to stay alive. Then check the traps periodically. Usually if it hits the glue trap it will still be alive when you catch it. Just discard the *******.

Good luck! Get an exterminator ASAP. If you rent... thats your landlord's responsibility to pick up the tab.

Yeah... plus there will be more gratification if you catch it in a glue trap.If you catch it in a trap... you know for certain you got the *******. Don't have to second guess if he is still running around.
Killing him with the poison is cool... but maybe he will die in someone else's apartment and you will never know. That would annoy the crap out of me.

Re: damm the mouse is back
I second the glue trap idea. But don't get the small 4x6 ish ones, even the smallest mouse has been known to get out or drag its *** around stuck in one! They have larger ones like 6x8 inches for rats, snakes, etc... they are much more effective.I've seen them at Walmart.

Re: damm the mouse is back
Oh no!!! again? That sends shivers. My aunt had mice in her apartment in the city it took her a little while to get rid of them. I cant imagine how uncomfortable that must be. I woulnt be able to fall sleep Id be worried it would come in my bed. eeeek. im sure you will get rid of them soon, but be careful there could be family of them. Do you have an exterminater? Maybe he can find where it is coming from and try to block up those holes so they dont come back.

Re: damm the mouse is back
I agree. ind ou where the little critter got in and ahve somsone block it up. We kept getting lizards (as you may know...) but they've stopped since the LL sealed around the window to our laundry room. Most of the bugs have stopped too. I'd never use traps because I wouldnt want to kill the lizard, the mouse, whatever, so it's best to get this one out (however you have to) and find out where he got in and plug it up. You don't want to have to keep on trapping/killing mice in your apt. Let's let this one be the LAST!

Re: damm the mouse is back
I would definitely get the glue traps...poison really doesn't do much. I had way too many post 9/11 in a ground floor, pre-war, brownstone apt downtown that I learned quickly!
definitely get the glue traps. They really prefer (disturbing that I actually know what their likes are) banana and peanut butter flavor most. Get the big ones. You could even put peanut butter in the middle of it if the glue traps aren't really working too well. They cover more area and realize you will have to pick the trap up after this living thing gets stuck to it! Put the trap in places you see droppings in, under and around your frig, stove, and around the walls. They are pretty blind so they follow the walls. The glue traps are great too because if you do decide to let it live, after you catch it, you can spray oil (like peanut, etc) to the trap and it will get free. (I never thought I would want to free the suckers that tortured me for so long but I got all sappy when I saw it
).You definitely want to figure out how it came in though. Check your walls for holes and plug up your radiators and stove pipe with steal wool or have an exterminator come and do it. Good luck!

Re: damm the mouse is back
OH, no, glue traps are terrible!!!! So inhumane!!!
Sometimes the poor things bite off their legs in order to get free, other times, their mouths get stuck on it and they suffocate to death!! EVen if you can get them off the trap, there's little chance of it surviving.I had a mouse in my apartment in the city. They come in when it gets cold outside. I never caught mine (more from lack of trying than anything else - I didn't want to have to dispose of it once it was caught), but the best thing to do is to get a regular old-fashioned mouse trap and if you're squeamish about cleaning it up, put the trap in a paper bag.
Good luck.

Ok... then maybe Michi should just kindly 'ask' the mouse to please clean up after itself and leave out the front door.
This is no 'humane' way to take care of a rodent problem. If somebody has a moral issue against it... hire an exterminator to do the dirty work.

No need to be sarcastic, it's my opinion. I stepped on a glue trap once when there was a mouse actually stuck on it and the poor thing was still alive and squirming and squealing. It was not a pretty sight.
anyway, for Michi
your little guy may be taking his own precautions...

We actually got have-a-heart traps, which humanely trap the mouse so you can release it outside. We caught a bunch like this (very very old house I grew up in!).
