DAVIDS BRIDAL

Original post by JandJ1224

SO, tonight I went to pick up my gown. I get it and it has stains on it, is falling apart and is missing the closure. I was under the impression that I had ordered a NEW dress. Turns out that their policy is that if your dress isn't in the warehouse they call around to stores and ship you a sample dress. They completely misrepresented that fact to me and made me believe that I had a new dress in my hand. While I was in the store there were at least 4 other brides who were having issues. They have reordered my dress and I am really hoping that I will get the new dress that I ordered and paid for! I will be bringing my dress somewhere else for alterations and am no longer planning on ordering bridesmaid dresses at this store!!!

I had to go there to order a dress for my cousins wedding (in Ohio - where the stores are alot better). I had problems just to get fitted for a dress!! The girl (who was heavier than me) had the NERVE to point out where I should lose weight so the dress would look that much better!!

I am definitely not going to get my alterations done there. The dress was ordered directly from the Cincinnati store - so I hope it's shipped to my house!

Re: DAVIDS BRIDAL

Just a few weeks ago I got a call from a BM who says, did you change the dress cause this isn't the one i tried on?

what?!?!?!?

Angry phone call and 20 minutes on hold later, I arrive at the store LIVID b/c all of my BMs received the WRONG dress (they are all OOT, so they were shipped for a $15 fee to their homes)................well, they apologized and part of the problem is that in the computer the style # of our dress is the beginning of the style # for 10 other dresses (like if ours was 1234, there are several others that start with 1234 but go on like 12345a, 1234aa, 1234a54..) SO, they had to return them all (without even having them) and order the right ones....I was still ticked because when I ordered the dresses I handed them a picture from their website with all the info....IDIOTS. Then they couldn't find my one BMs dress for the one who is local...but they did find my dress and the FG dress........even though I didn't want to/had no room in the car, I took it...I just couldn't risk it...and I'm seriously considering having the bustle done somewhere else...just don't want to risk it....furthermore, my correct BM dresses won't be in until MAY! glad I ordered them in February and not March or April...I'd be screwed otherwise....they definitely put a bad taste in my mouth....I'm sure some girls have had a wonderful experience and I had until this, but i can't say I'd recommend them anymore. (at least not the location i went to)

I am so sorry to hear that! I hope that the new one comes in perfect and you take that dress and go somewhere else for your alterations!

I went to the one on Northern Boulevard for my BM dresses...David's Bridal service is HORRIBLE and they have a bunch of beyotches working there...I let them know that as well when I picked up my girls' dresses...I told them that they were the WORST! They don't really care though...most people that work there are there for a paycheck and thats it...

Re: DAVIDS BRIDAL

Yes agreed the service for the most part is terrible. While I was waiting there was a bride picking up bridsemaid dresses for her girls and they never ordered the dress!! Her wedding is in June in the bahmas. I felt so bad for this girl and they were treating her like CRAP! After last night I do not recommend this store and I am just praying I get my dress (new) and can be done with them

Hmmm...I went to the one in Yonkers/Scarsdale out in Westchester and had a great time. They were really helpful with finding dresses for me to try on and accomodating the people with me. I bought my dress there, and they called me 3 weeks later to let me know it had come in. I am not sure if i will have my alterations done there but the purchasing portion was great for me. Sorry to hear that others are having such problems.

Re: DAVIDS BRIDAL

i bought my 2nd dress there the other day and although the service was a little lacking, they were nice and polite. i don't have time to order a new dress so i took the one off the rack. just 2 beads are loose and i'm making them fix it and there were 2 tiny stains which i'm making them take care of. i'm picking it up in 2 weeks and will check it thoroughly. i already have a seamstress who will do alterations.

see, they told me they could try to order another dress from another store. the person you worked with probably neglected to mention that. sorry you had such a bad experience--i'm hoping when i pick mine up that all is well

I actually thought about going there for my BM dresses but I think I will try somewhere else.

Hope everything works out for you!!

Re: DAVIDS BRIDAL

Yeah, sorry that happened to you. That's David's regular policy - first they try to sell off the rack, then they say they'll order it. What they mean, of course, is that they'll order it from another store. When I was working there they told me they had no way of knowing if a new dress could be ordered. Not really sure how true that was. They lied to me (as an employee AND as a customer) as well.

I think I put all the rediculous problems I had there in my review, but if I didn't and you're curious, just FM me.

Re: DAVIDS BRIDAL

OH my I feel so horrible about all your problems!! What a horror, as if you don't have enough to worry about. I'm sorry for your troubles.

I've always heard negative things about David's but went there first to get an idea of styles, what looked good on me, etc. I had no intention of buying.

First they make you make an 'appointment' (at the Westbury store) and get mad if you didn't do that before you come in. They make a big deal that you're going to have to wait but we had enough time to pick out 5 dresses from the racks before we were called. It was only 15 minutes but we got there when it opened.

We were helped by Etta who was a dream. She was a great little lady, very helpful, didn't try to sway me one way or the other or sell me a whole bunch of other stuff.

I didn't intend to buy but the last dress I tried on was just too beautiful. And it was $500. Since it was a new style, they didn't have any in stock so I know it was ordered for me.

Someone different helped me when I went back to try it on/pick it up and she tried to sell me all sorts of things ('I like you so I'll give you a discount but ONLY if you buy today!'). Thankfully I didn't fall for that and found my veil and headpiece elsewhere for much less money (Patchogue Floral).

After reading this and all the other negative things about them, I absolutely will not go back for alterations.

I'm so glad you are all here to help each other out. This is such a wonderful thing, this site!
