My BMs had their appt to get measured for their dresses on Saturday.....I have to just mention that I had to call three times to get this appt in the book because they never bothered to write it in the book!
My friend had to change her appt and go early so when she went they never wrote down the style number....I had to go on the computer and find it for them from home....so I was already a little unnhappy with the service at DB.
When they called to confirm appts on Friday, I asked them two questions......was the dress on sale in the store as well as online or just online and would my girls still get the $20 off discount. I was told yes and yes, so I called the girls and let them know that the dress was going to be even cheaper than I had anticipated. Everyone was happy when we went in.
Then the girl who was helping us asked everyone to say their pants sizes outloud (two of my girls just had babies)...HOW RUDE to ask them to say that in front of other people.
When the girls went up to pay, they were told that they couldn't get the $20 discount because the dress was on sale....I explained that I had spoken to someone yesterday and they said that wouldn't be a problem and the girls get the discount no matter what. The woman wouldn't budge so I asked to speak to the manager....manager was a beast...she heard te story, turned and looked at me, ****** her teeth and said 'NO!' with a really nasty tone and then went on to tell me that I need to read the coupons because they state that it can't be combined with any other offer. I told her that she should tell her empoyees to read them as well because I was wrongly informed by them and any reputable business owns up to their mistakes.
She rolled her eyes and said that there was nothing they could do and that I should make sure I read the fine print.....I was livid. I have worked in retail sales and never in my life have I been treated with such utter disrespect. They are going to lose a lot of business from me if the district manager is unable to do anything for me....I am passing this along to all of you so that you don't have to go through what I did. No person should! STAY AWAY FROM DAVID'S BRIDAL of WESTBURY!

Re: David's Bridal Westbury Rant
I'm sorry to hear all about all of the negative experiences!!! I have to say though, I have been there twice so far, and had great experiences so far. I got lucky the first time and got great help, so I made sure when I made my second appointment I asked for the same girl.

I got my dress there a few months ago and had no problems. I went in to show it to my MOH and browse the BM dresses and they were SOOOO super rude. I was shocked.
If its any consolation went with friend to Yonkers DB for her to look at gowns and they were awesome. Unbelievably accomdating staff, totally sweet, place is so much tidier too!!
I went to the DB in Yonkers with my flower girls to look for their dresses...I did find them nicer than the sales ladies at the Westbury store.
HOWEVER, they messed up our appointment. I made an appointment a week before for ~11am on a weekday, I repeated several times that it was to look for FG dresses, they called me the day before to confirm the appointment and I again mentioned it was for FG dresses. When we got there, they had written in their book that the appointment was for a bridal gown. They said it was no big deal and let us browse and try on by ourselves. But come on...I tell you the DAY BEFORE that it's for FG dresses...write it in the dang book!!!!!

OOOH NOOOO.... I've been there before with no problems as a BM but now that I'm a bride that plans to go back, you all have me nervous! I definitely didn't like the service in the DB's in Long Island City so I figured I'd go to the Westbury one... Guess I'll just have to wait and see

Re: David's Bridal Westbury Rant
I had a fine time as a MOH getting a dress in Westbury. I found getting a BM dress in Lake Grove irritating. The help was annoying and they made such a hassle when the dress came in to get it out. Yet when I called to make an alteration appointment in March the woman asked when the wedding was and when I told her April she said she had an appointment available in July. Needless to say, I picked up the dress and brought it to a local tailor and am spending $33 on alterations.
I won't be going there to look for my own gown.

Re: David's Bridal Westbury Rant
I went looking for color ideas in the Westbury store on Saturday... and since I was just looking, no problem...
I had wonderful seamstresses when I was a BM and ordered my dress at that store, but when it came time for my final fitting -- I went back and they lost my dress.
It took them 30 minutes to find it, and this was two weeks before my wedding... it was too much stress for me as a BM I don't want to deal with that as a bride.

I had the opposite, the woman who helped me with my dress at the one in long island city was a sweetheart they also didnt give me any problems when i needed to re-order my dress and i sent someone else to go pick it up both times , thought i would have a problem with that...so far they have been good.

Good to know...maybe I caught them on a bad day...So I won't completely write them off now thanks to you

Re: David's Bridal Westbury Rant
It is true that you can get bad service anywhere.....unfortunately, bad service, lack of organization or effort paired with really poor attitude is NOT what you are looking for when wedding planning.
There are so many things that you can get stressed over when planning a wedding and the bridesmaids dresses are not supposed to be one of them!
This was one of the only things I have gotten stressed over since we began planning the wedding. It is just such a shame that a place like DB, that has the potential to make your wedding planning experience fun and beautiful (trying on gorgeous gowns with the people you love most) generally seems to make it miserable.
As I said, people told me not to go there because they had negative experiences as brides.....but as a bridesmaid, I never had an issue so I tried it....look what I got!

Re: David's Bridal Westbury Rant
I used that davids and have nothing to say but good things- I went on a Tuesday nite, an older lady that worked with me was great!!! I must have tried on 10 dress and she is the one who pulled what turned out to be 'the dress' when it came time to get the girls dress I went back on a Tuesday nite again and things were fine they store went out of there way to help locate my MOB (it was discontinued) dress they call all there stores on LI and found in up in Middletown (they shipped it down) and my mom looks great in it!!! I have no problems. I think it just depends when you go- the lady who helped me told me out right not to go on weekends because they are always crazy- I was able to stick to Tuesday nites when she was there. i got everything i needed and am happy with all- i have to start my fitting in Oct.- but i moved up state so i have to find another place for that.

Re: David's Bridal Westbury Rant
As I had said earlier, the hhunt for my gown went well. I had no issues with that and the woman that helped me actually pulled out what turned out being THE DRESS!
Everything fell apart after that unfortunately! I had people traveling from Brewster, Manhattan, Rockaway, etc. so we needed to do it on a weekend.
We were served relatively quickly. THe people were just exceptionally rude.....in fact, it was more than rude. It was downright mean and condescending.
I am glad that you had a positive experience! That gives me some hope!

Re: David's Bridal Westbury Rant
I do not understand why people still use davids I have only heard bad things about their service and their dresses. I know they are a little cheaper but do you really save since almost no one gets the alterations done there and you have to go elsewhere??

Re: David's Bridal Westbury Rant
I had a bad experience at westbury too. I went in just to look on a wednesday mid-day. I figured that no one would really be in the store, so I would have no problem getting service. Well, I was right that no one was in the store. There were about 6 sales women and I was the ONLY customer. The second I walked in the door, I was bombarded by a sales woman who told me that I couldnt try on dresses if I didnt have an appointment (she didnt even ask me if I had an appointment before saying this). I guess she just assumed I was just there 'for fun' because I'm young, but I'm still a customer (and bride-to-be) with money to spend. I browsed around the store for about half an hour, just with the intent of looking at dresses to see if there was anything I liked. If there was anything I liked, I would have made an appointment to come back another day to try on. But the sales woman followed me around like my shadow for the entire half hour. She made me feel so uncomfortable (and unwanted) about being there that I left without even noting which dresses I liked. I dont care that DB is convenient and economical, it's still not worth being treated like ****. I will never go back there.

What is funny to me about that is I walked into David's Bridal to get my gown without an appointment. There was a sale going on there, so I figured I would at least take a look. They were more than happy to accommodate me and this was towards the end of the night. I was pleasantly surprised and ended up getting my gown that night....that was when the fun started. They ordered me the wrong size bra, which I am keeping in hopes that when I lose the remainder of the weight, my chest will shrink too....until then, I will look as if I could feed a small country!
