Day Engagement Party???

Day Engagement Party???

Hi Everyone,

I was hoping I could ask for your opinion on a Day Engagement Party and if anyone ever had one and how it was.

My mother wants to throw us a party in her backyard in June. She wanted to start the party at 2pm. I am trying to get her to start later and the latest she'll go is 4pm.

I just feel that a day engagement party is kind of lame and could be boring. Has anyone else had a day party? How did you feel about it being in the daytime? How can I make it seem more elegant and romantic for a day party?

Thanks everyone!

i had one at king umbertos during the day last May. it was from 1 - 5 or 12 - 4, i forget. I WANTED one outside actually - my mom wanted to do a big party at night with a dj etc. but i said no because I thought that would be too much.

i like daytime stuff, especially if it's outdoors. we had too many people to do a bbq or have it at someone's house, but i would have loved that. it's much more relaxed and conducive to conversation.

I had mine on a Sunday in July in my backyard. Started at 1pm. Everyone had a great time. It was hot but we dealt with it. It was an indoor/outdoor catered party.

Nothing wrong with having it during the day, doesnt make it any less of a party, just makes it more casual.

engagement parties are typically a nonformal family function or so i always thought. I never heard of these $$$$ all out parties until i came on here.

I find it more delightful to have that instead of a mini wedding. My cousin had one in their backyard and it was so lovely.

There's nothing wrong with having an eparty during the day..I actually would have liked to have my e-party during the day (if I had one, but i'm just going to have a big shower instead)

Ive been to one in the daytime and also if youre doing it in your backyard and more of a bbq e-party then daytime would be perfect

Thank you all. This helps me to feel better about the day party.

How did you all decorate an outside day party? I always envisioned my party at night, under a tent, with white lights all around. This is why I'm a little upset and don't know how to make it more of what I want.

they rented a tent with lights and had it catered. They also had a bucket on each table of wines and beers (theme) and sangria on the main table. They had a huge spread of food done by a very excellent and local italian rest. that was just perfect.

They also rented a choco fountain for the desert.

I had a day-time engagement party...it started at 12:30 and ended around 4ish...we had a wonderful time, I actually kinda liked that it was a bit more low key because we had more time to spend talking to our guests

my friend had a BBQ for her engagement party, while it was all fancy, it was still a good time, her relatives are hysterical and really down to earth.

I guess it all depends on what you'd like.

I've been to plenty of e-parties that were outside during the day. It's a great time to have a party.

I had a Luau in my in-laws backyard (which is beautiful and tropical). We hired caterers and bartenders and decorated the whole place. Had a tent put up and rented tables and chairs. The party started at 3pm. It was soooo much fun! People started rolling in at 2pm and the party ended at 2am! IT was soooo much fun!
