Day of Coordinator?

Original post by Laura0612

I am wondering if it is really necessary to do this. I am extremely unorganized and I procrastinate in the extreme, and just looking at some of the to-do lists on here makes me want to run away screaming...still, a DOC is extra money that I may or may not have...I'm considering Amanda from Amanda Barbara Events since she's already helping me out with decor, and I know she's amazing, but I'm really trying to justify the expense. I already dropped the ball with the invites and I just know I'm going to mess something else up, even though I'm a teacher and the school year is just about over. I almost feel like even the extra time in the summer isn't going to be enough for me.

Thoughts? Advice?

I feel like you have answered your own question! I honestly didn't think I would need one only because I had a lot of time and am very picky about things being done early and right; however, I did hire Christine from Piece of Cake Events for the day of the wedding and let me tell what a help she has been just leading up to it!!! She always has suggestions/ideas/referrals when I email her and she is so quick to respond to everything! I just felt that I have a tendency to get agitated and upset very easily that I really wanted someone around on the day of to tell people what to do and deal with unexpected crap! I recommend it especially if it will give you peace of mind! HTH!

wow guys thanks so much for all the responses!!!!!! really i just have my mother and sister helping and even that is a strain for them i think...everyone has their own lives. so i think i'm going to bite the bullet on this one. however now im nervous about the pricing. the girl im considering, who is doing my decor, is $900. is that considered a lot for this? i saw someone mention $500. but how can i have her there doing decor and hire someone else as a DOC? that seems very awkward to me.

I recently sign a contract with Couture Occasions and after the 1st meeting I felt relieved... a ton of weight dropped of my shoulders knowing someone will now help with make my day perfect, they will be handeling everything and that worth the money if I am stress free:))
One person doing to much can be alot, go with some one else
I say do it...I didn't have it either but made a way

THIS!!! Piece of Cake Events!!! They were my lifesavers. Hiring a DOC was a last minute decision but it turned out to be one of the best things I did.

We used a Modern Day Affair and I think it was well worth the money. I have to say that I think the bridal attendant at the reception hall did less because they knew we had a DOC. So be clear with the hall that the DOC is there to deal with outside vendors.

BUT, we really relied on DOC to deal with all the vendors before and at the wedding. I have to say that Laura from MDA got the family pictures done in a flash so family could attend the cocktail hour. Sometimes it is easier for a non-friend for family member to move people for you.

We were absolutely guests at the wedding. DOC dealt with the few problems that came up.

Worth the money especially if you are having wedding at a different place from the reception. For us hotel, church and reception were all about 30 minutes apart. If anything was needed somewhere, the DOC dealt with it.

A Modern Day Affair was less than 500.00 and I dont think it weird to hire someone separate for your decor. Why would you spend 900 if you can pay less than 500?
