Day Wedding??

My church is at 1100 AND THE RECEPTION STARTS AT 1:00 ENDING AT 6:00 WHAT DO WE DO NOW? IS ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE GETTING MARRIED DURING THE DAY? I AM THINKING OF HAVING A PARTY AT ONE OF MY PARENTS HOUSE - BUT WE CAN'T INVITE EVERYONE... I THOUGHT OF RENTING A HALL BUT THAT HAS BECOME TO MUCH OF A NEW EXPENSE... IS ANYONE JUST GOING TO A BAR?

Day Wedding??

We are having a day wedding this weekend and my fi arranged to have a couple of 6 foot heros and soda and beer at his mother`s house. He expects that all his family will want to go back and continue to party - they`re Irish & it`s St Pats Day and they don`t all get together that often. It`s worth the couple hundred dollars to us but I certainly wouldn`t rent out a hall. Your guests may divide up into groups and do their own thing. I know my work friends are all planning to go out in the city, other friends are all going out elsewhere and my mother will be entertaining a smaller crowd at her place so the entire guestlist isn't ending up at his mom's. You aren`t obliged to do anything of course but go with what feels right.

Day Wedding??

I am also having a day wedding. We are renting rooms at the Holiday Inn and we are hoping that a few people will also rent rooms, so that we can all hang out afterwards in the bar. My wedding is in Suffolk and many people are coming in from the City for the wedding, so we are hoping that they will stay.

Day Wedding??

I am having a Saturday Day Wedding this September and same as you, I have a 11 a.m. ceremony and then the cocktail hour starts at 1 p.m. (I am stressing that I won't have enough time for pictures between having a full mass and the cocktail hour..anyway...) but what my fiance and I are doing is renting out a conference room in the hotel that some of our out of town guests are staying at from 6 p.m. to whenever and around 9 p.m., we are having some chaffing dishes and we are bringing our own wine, beer and soda for everyone. It really isn't costing us an arm and a leg...$350 for use of the room for the evening and chaffing dishes. I thought about having this at my parents house or my fiance's house but there will be just too many people and I don't want our families stressing after the reception. Just our idea; I hope it was somewhat helpful...best of luck to you!!!

Day Wedding??

My sister rented a KofC hall. I think it was around $50-$100 and then just had heros and drinks.

IS IT REALLY THAT CHEAP? IF THAT IS THE CASE I WILL CONSIDER THAT CHOICE - SINCE I THINK I WILL HAVE TOO MANY GUESTS FOR ONE HOME... CAN YOU GET A DJ FOR $200.00??

I think the only catch with a KofC is that you need to know a member. At my sisters we played CDs. It wasn't anything fancy but everyone was still able to hang out.

Your to tired

We had a flight at 7am the next morning, and our wedding was over at 5pm. By the time we went back to the house, changed, gathered our stuff said our goodbyes, then drove to our hotel near LaGuardia, we were so pooped. We went right to bed. Some people I know have gone to bars, just mention it to your closest relatives and friends.

Day Wedding??

I was in a day wedding last year. The bride and groom rented a room at a hotel with a bar. Once the reception ended, the bride and groom passed the word around that people were meeting at the hotel and bar. We had a blast! Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Day Wedding??

Our reception ends at 5:30 on a Saturday. We're planning to go back to our room and change and relax for a short while, and we'll be letting guests know that we'll be dropping by one of the hotel bars a little later that evening. We may look into getting the use of one of their conference rooms too.
