Dear Wifey,

I've actually gained no weight and have actually lost some being that you have not cooked a thing after saying 'I Do'. Although you used to before we were married.

In all seriousness though (my wife is actually a scant 115 pounds) as I can see, this is going to start getting bitter so I may as well put a halt to it now.

That being said, I must admit my wife does not frequent these boards and I just find it humorous about all the complaining everyone does against us men when many, many women are as much to blame. In my marriage, my wife and I have a very open, loving and communicative relationship where I put my dishes away where they belong, I help clean, iron for her (as she hates to iron), etc. Equally, she certainly puts in her fair share of work aorund the house and we live in a marriage where it truly is an equal partnership. Sometimes she gives more than I, and sometimes I more than her.

Perhaps you ladies should think about simply picking the dishes up that the other poor, poor men leave behind. Aren't there much more important things to get bent out of shape about? (And don't say this is all good fun. While I'm sure most of it is, I highly doubt these 'complaints' have not caused many an argument in all of your homes). I'm sure if you kicked it up a little bit, many of your husbands and fiance's would gladly do the same... We do, after all, hate all the nagging, however, I have forgotten what nagging is since my wife rarely, if ever does it. We don't have the perfect marriage and we do sometimes get under each other's skin as will happen to everyone, but our marriage does work perfectly for us and people who know us know we are deeply in love and can sense what a great relationship we have. Try talking to your husband, not like his mother, but as his friend and lover. You'd be surprised what kind of message that will send.

My sincere regards,
The Voice for the Husbands!!

Dear Groom:

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were able to see 'my shape' in the reflection of the television screen you've parked yourself in front of. Had I known you were looking, I definitely would've made more of an effort!

And as for my diet, it's mostly because you don't have to WASH A pizza box!

Affectionately,
wife

Re: Dear DH/FH --

Yes, I do have advice...

Sometimes do we not all seem to get wrapped up in every other thing that is going on in our lives? Does the person we are with inadvertantly take a back seat to the daily grind (both husbands and wives)?

You can certainly say you tell your husband/fiance', but that will not work... ever. You have to really communicate with each other in a kind way. Express how important it is to you to have it done such and such a way.

And I know this is not going to be a surprise to ANY of you women - men, as a whole, are SIMPLE. If we do something good, reward us. We're like dogs. Make some extra time for intimacy (a man's most favorite thing). Remind us why it is that we're going though 'all that extra effort' of reaching an additional 20' to put the dishes away or our socks in the laundry basket.

With a double working household, I understand it's difficult to make that time for togetherness and intimacy; does that mean you shouldn't make the effort? Come on to your husband and show him you love him. However, this is not a plea for all the husbands to 'get some'. If oyu disagree with that, if he does something that helps you out and makes you feel good, leave him a note the following day expressing how much you appreciated it. You'd probably be surprised by how far that will go to getting us to do it again and again. How about a nice card telling him how oyu feel about him time and again? It's mushy yes, and most guys will say not to worry about that, but we like those things, albeit not as much as you ladies, but it doesn't hurt to make us feel good about things we've done.
Does that help?

Thanks for being cool and understanding my sarcasm; I really appreciate our loving relationship.

Now please put your laundry away?

Seriously dude, you're off our rocker!!

And for you to assume that we all 'must' fight/argue about these things with our DH's or FH's is ridiculous. Ever heard of sarcasm?

Your wife is lucky to have such a communicative man...you must be so lucky to get handwritten 'praise notes'.

What does your husband get?

'Make sure you leave the toilet seat down?' Wow, can't wait to come back home to that and all the other nagging.

Actually, yes -- I make him miserable, that's why he's with me!!!

ets - I withhold sex, too, it's makes our lives that much more fun

Another comment to the groom.

Why bring up the weight issue if you cannot relate?

We are merely joking at things we all can relate to. Obviously, none of the things we are poking fun at you can relate to since you don't have any of these small annoying troubles.

Don't preach man, it's not helpful. You know nothing about our relationships. We are all madly in love with our DHs and would do anything for them including the dishes, the laundry, putting up with the MIL, cooking a nice meal and cleaning it up, taking care of the children and working full time, paying the bills...etc..

Old commercial still is true. I can bring home the bacon, fry it up in a pan...etc...

I am woman-I am equal to you and deserve the respect, adoration and unconditional love. Help me out...I'm not talkin out my butt.

PS - I LOVE my FH very much - even if he sometimes leaves his dishes in the den, his socks on the floor, etc. ANd he loves me very much even if my cooking is sub-par!

Yes...my husband is 'nagged' about the toilet seat. Are you on crack? We're a young newlywed couple, why would you assume there's nagging going on? And the toilet seat? He knows I don't stand up to pee, so luckily that's not an issue in our happy home.

But because I don't need 'praise notes' when I do something as amazing as take my dishes and put them in the sink and my hubby is a mature adult man, we'll skip that glorious piece of advice you gave.

Dude, this is a thread about sarcastic love notes we would give our DH's or FH's in an alternate universe ...nowhere here does it say this is what actually happens.

Like usuk2004 wisely said, don't get hurt jumping off your soapbox.

Beautiful. So now that you've adequately judged everyone with your insane assumptions, we can all get back to being witty and fun. Because you're killing the vibe, man, and I think that there's a spot next to the Naked Cowboy in Times Square. Take your wisdom to the streets, brother!

Dear DH,
Thank you for getting me. Really, thank you. I was made aware that there are some weird people in the world who don't get humor and I realized how lucky I am to have found someone else who appreciates sarcasm & actually understands me. And yes, there is poetry in your total disregard for putting the laundry in the right place...

Love,
Your wife
