Ok..I know I keep posting but seriously.......

the mortgage crisis......so McCain......what about those of us who bought a home, and did not foreclose on it? ANYONE?????

i hate to say this but i dont think either of them will help with this. In the first debate they had a few weeks ago NEITHER of them were able to answer this. It was so frustrating and everyone agreed that neither obama or mccain were able to actually answer the question and explain a plan they had to help our economy right now. ALl they talked about was how bad it is, yeah thanks we know this but how about at least one of you answer this question bc its pretty scary that neither can. When they were asked what programs will have to get cut in order to put this bail out plan through, again neither answered. They answered what wouldnt get cut which was just avoiding the question. Its bs what they say and i dont believe either one. How the heck are they going to do what they say when we are going to get taxed for the 700 billion pay out plan, and on top of that the bail out plan failed and our tax dollars just went down the drain for all this bs, so our economy is about to get worse. If they cut taxes, cut health care and all these other things, where is money coming in its just what the people want to hear but when we really think about it, its not even possible. At least be up front and honest with us

Obama was clear on his plan to help the defecit which in turn will help the economy...I wrote about this in a previous post.

Obviously there is more to it than that but it is a detailed plan that calls for a change in the tax relief and breaks that oil companies, lobbyists and CEO's benefit from...BILLIONS...that will be put into our economy.

McCain clearly stated 'now is not the time for a tax increase' ummmm..... no one gets one? then how are we paying the defecit??? Obama does plan on raising taxes for those who make over $250,000...this will also help with the defecit and the economy.

He has plans, clear plans that sound like they are worth giving a shot...I mean McCain has nothing, nada, just attacks on Obama and the same broken record accusations that really don't allow me to see how he plans to help us.

but so many candidates can talk about what will be done but then once they are in office they end up doing differently, thats my point. They will BS their way through the election to say what the public wants to hear. Time and time again a candidate has promised us many things and time and time again they didnt follow through with what they said during the election. I mean can anyone honestly say they believe everything a politician says lol

He will only tax those who make over $250k, ok well it will be great trying to get money out of all the CEO's whose companies either went bankrupt or are in financial trouble. And not only is there a 700 billion bail out plan we have to pay for but before this we already were in alot of trouble, it will take more than taxing JUST the rich. The rich are only a very small percentage of our country, the majority are middle class and i dont see how we wont also have to pay for this. I just dont believe it, until i actually see it happening. We all know candidates BS and its the truth

Exactly. By the way discussions have gone on this site, I feel like majority of people are voting for who will be better with their MONEY. I feel like it all comes down to money. Forget about the economy failing, forget about foreign policy, forget about healthcare, I dont want my taxes to be raised and thats disheartening to me.

It really is...the thing is watching the debate I could not think of a single reason why someone would not vote for Obama...to me it is simple....if you like things the way they are then vote for McCain. If you think we need to change vote for Obama...hopefully he can help get America back on track...with McCain we know it's 4 more years of this and really at this point we can't have it, the risks are too high right now. Those who make more money won't feel the tax cut the way they will if the economy gets worse with no plan of action to change (McCain) and then we will all feel it especially as far as safety..less money more crime, NY will go back to being unsafe like in to 1980's it is just scary to me to support someone who will keep us on this current disasterous course!

i actually put both candidates down, i didnt attack obama, i said BOTH. So i am not saying Mccain has a better plan either, i said both i think are bs'ing us right now. I also dont think either candidate is strong enough to take over when our country is in such a crisis. I dont feel confident in either one sadly

Of course candidates BS but thats why we need to try and sit and say 'Which is more realistic, which makes sense' We cant sit here the whole election and say damn theyre full of BS. We have to make a decision. This happens unfortunately every single time a new president is elected. They talk talk talk and we dont know what is actually going to happen.

Not exactly....you meed to choose as a voter.. who is actually throwing you a line of BS, anyone who needs to berate another candidate, obviously has nothing to offer besides just throwing another candidate directly under the bus...it is up to us as voters to make that decision! Obama never had to do that...because clearly he is winning he debates thus far. It was a sad night for McCain supporters.

A debate means choosing who you think RIGHT NOW will make a bigger difference if the were to be voted into presidency.....

yeah i understand what you're saying, but i always felt strong about a candidate. This time i dont feel confident in either like i said above. With the condition our country is in, i think we needed a star candidate at this time and i dont see it in either one. At this point i hope whomever wins actually is able to help somewhat. I just wished they answered more than well i wouldnt take this person and i would only tax these ppl. Tell us straight up, which programs are gonna have to get cut, which areas will suffer, will it be education, healthcare? Honestly taxes alone wont help us at this point, there has to be more laid out for a plan and i think bc of what is going on now, we needed a more detailed plan. I mean how are taxes alone going to help when the govt just gave 700 billion of our tax dollars and it still didnt help out yet, so i doubt any tax plan they have is going to help, it hasnt yet infact its just as bad as before the bail out. There has to be new rules, new restrictions for corporations, new rules to buy homes, for school loans, for credit given anywhere.

Re: Debate!!!

I honestly believe unless Bloomberg ran for president NO candidate would be 100 percent able to say what they will definitely cut to fix our problems. Youre asking them how theyre are going to fix 8 WHOLE YEARS of pure mess that the Bush administration caused in 1 minute during the debates!

but i also have the right to feel the way i do, i dont have to say ok well ill pick a candidate just bc i have to. I always felt strong about one candidate but this time i dont and like i said i have every right to feel the way i do. I wont fake the way i feel and fake feeling confidence in either one. DO i think one will do better than the other, yes but one doing better than the other doesnt mean things will work out great and i feel safe all of a sudden. So yes i do have one candidate i think can do OK i guess.

And also i understand ppl are big supporters of a candidate but at the same time my opinion is just that, the same way you wouldn't want somebody to tell you how to feel or whom to choose. I understand the whole idea behind a debate thank you, but i still feel strongly about the way i feel. I wont get persuaded to feel differently

not everything but how about anything besides taxes, just 1 plan i would love to hear not all. I dont think thats asking alot of two men who want to be our next president, we the public deserve it ESPECIALLY after this whole bail out plan went through and its the average american who has to pay for this, if we're good enough to take money from then i would at least love to hear a little bit more of plan.

I think it's really nice to mention how we have one more debate. But I feel like after tonight's debate, how can anyone vote for this man(McCain)?

I just do not understand everyone's confusion?!

Is is just me?

LOL...very true....but it continues to make me nervous that CLEARLY one candidate took tonight's debate, as Biden took the VP debate, and Obama took 9/26's debate, and it is not as clear to other people. Granted, I am basing this on LIW, but we all vote....hopefully!

well to be honest, i dont think anybody can say 'how can somebody vote for so and so candidate' everybody is different and even if somebody disagrees with me, i never have told somebody how can they think differently than me, how can they vote differently than me. This is why we have the right to vote, to vote for whom we want to not be told who should run the country. I respect everyones side even if it is different than me. I think one thing that always has bothered me is when somebody told me i was wrong for whom i wanted to vote for, there is no such thing as that i personally feel, the same way you wouldn't want to be told that who you are voting for is wrong. I just never could sit here and tell people that i am right, my opinion is better and everybody else is wrong and how can people not think like me

Also, i dont see how in the debate one was a whole lot better than the other. I can say how each had pro's and con's, but one candidate didnt blow the other one away. BOth had moments where they talked about what they would do but the other candidate would sit there and bring up their track record to show differently. Obama talked about cutting taxes for middle class ppl BUT he has voted 94 times to NOT cut taxes for middle class, so its good to go by debates but its also important to look at their track record and see what they actually have done, things they have voted for in the past, Obama also talked about energy and how the govt needs to do more, but he also voted for bush/cheney's plan which wasnt to do much for the environment while mccain didnt. Then mccain spoke about foreign policy and war, Obama was able to sit there and turn around what he said and prove him wrong. Mccain criticizes Obama for speaking out about attacking a country and how its the irresponsible thing to do but meanwhile Mccain has done the same thing in the past so he shouldn't attack Obama for it.

I posted this website last time, but I think everyone should look at it. It's completely non-partisan and cuts through both candidates BS during each debate, their commercials, their speeches, etc. They've already factchecked last night. Please take a look and remember not to believe everything your candidate says.

Jeez I fell asleep during the debate. The audience asked some good questions and I didnt' think either candidate addressed the questions. I think the attacks and mudslinging just turn me off from politics. I wasn't blown away by either candidate and still I don't know who I'll vote for. I'm not the type to vote for a democrat just because he's a democrat or a republican just because he's republican. I need facts and I want you to address issues that concern me!

Thank you for posting this, i am gonna definitely read it. And thank you, that was what i was trying to say. BOTH candidates and not attacking just one but Obama and Mccain will say things in debates that are not true, or at least their track record doesnt back up what they say. It's good to watch the debates but also look at the records to see if what they say matches up to what they've done. But i just found it funny that even though I said 'BOTH' for some reason everyone thought i was attacking Obama did he change his name to both

i was undecided for awhile, going back and forth but last night i started to really dislike McCain - and i thought Obama did excellent until about 10:15 b/c i think that is when i fell asleep not because it was boring but because i was exhausted! but from what i saw i think Obama was pretty good.....McCain isnt as good of a speaker, he looked like he was getting frustarted/agitated and he started to remind me of bush.....

I am the exact same way, i dont vote for a democrat just bc hes a democrat and wont vote for a republican just bc he is a republican. I vote for whomever i feel is the more qualified candidate, sometimes it can be a democrat that will be more qualified and sometimes its a republican. When you look at the list for all the things democrats stand for and republicans stand for, i cant say that i am for every single thing that each one is for. I am diverse and while i may agree with a democrat on one issue, i will disagree with them when it comes to another issue. I think many of us are like this and sometimes dont realize it.

Re: Debate!!!

i just read that site, factcheck.

I am glad one thing was brought up on there bc even in this thread, Mccain was criticized for what 'HE' plans to do with mortgages, but listening to it i thought 'Uhmmm arentwe doing that now' isn't it part of the bail out plan' sorry to say to those who are criticizing him for doing this IF he is president but this has been talked about constantly since before the bail out plan was passed. They want to extend mortgages to help those who are in trouble, and yeah its not his plan so not sure why Mccain is talking about putting a plan into effect and saying its his when its going on now There are 7.4 million homes in foreclosure, something needs to be done and something will be done, they are trying to find a way to get some of those in trouble right now out of the mess they are in.

here is the section on this, why is anyone passing it as their own

McCain made what he claimed was a new proposal to rescue over-mortgaged homeowners:

McCain: As president of the United States. ... I would order the secretary of the treasury to immediately buy up the bad home loan mortgages in America and renegotiate at the new value of those homes – at the diminished value of those homes and let people be able to make those – be able to make those payments and stay in their homes.

McCain added: 'It's my proposal, it's not Sen. Obama's proposal, it's not President Bush's proposal. But I know how to get America working again...'

But in fact, the recently passed $700 billion rescue package already grants the treasury secretary authority to undertake just such a program. It requires the secretary to buy up troubled mortgages while taking into consideration “the need to help families keep their homes and to stabilize communities.” It also says “the Secretary shall consent, where appropriate (to) loss mitigation measures, including term extensions, rate reductions (or) principal write downs.'

Obama himself had urged this as the package was being considered. He said on Sept. 23 that 'we should consider giving the government the authority to purchase mortgages directly instead of simply purchasing mortgage-backed securities.'

McCain said 'his' proposal would be expensive, and his campaign quickly issued a news release giving numbers:
