Just curious. Most of FH and my friends and family are all out of state since with both moved here a couple years ago, so we haven't had an engagement party, well because no one would come, and we want to save our 'visit us requests' for wedding...
I was just wondering if anyone else is missing out on the engagement party festivities :(

well we had a small dinner for 40 guests. . . no DJ or anything like that
it was a really nice, small intimate celebration - and i never regretted not having an e party even thought FILs offered to throw us a 'real' one

i am not having one...we just dont want to make too big a production of our engagement, but we did see a lot of our family after it happened during the holidays. it would be fun, but also expensive so we decided not to do it. We might just have a small get together with just our immediate families....parents, brothers, sisters. that's all.

We didnt have one, even though i REALLY WANT ONE!!!!
Ive been told by 'people' that their family doesnt do that... and that its a burden on people....

We didn't have an engagement party either, we decided to go to dinner at Pace's with the close family. I don't feel like I'm missing out.

I didn't have one.I don't regret it. I'm just going to have a gtg with immediate family and go to dinner. I rather spend the $ on the RH.

No we didn't have one...the engagement happened at a really bad time and we just couldn't do it, but we really didn't want one anyway.

i got engaged on our cruise and the day we got back our moms had set up something at my house for us with some of our family members so it was cute and a great thing to come home to!

I didn't have one either. Had a nice dinner at a restaurant with the two families. And I don't feel I missed out on anything.

didnt have one - dont want one - personally, i feel like if people want to get u an engagement gift, that is their decision but i dont believe in 'asking' for gifts for the same reason twice - again, JMO, dont mean to hurt any feelings

i didn't really want one. but my family didn't really know fh's family (even after the 9 years we've been dating!!!) so fsil insisted on having one.
i was glad i did though. if i hadn't i might have looked back and wished i had. you might want to consider having one for that reason. even if it's just small and low-key.

We are not having one. At first I wanted one but then I didn't want to spend the money. I would rather put that money toward the wedding.

we didnt... my mom is throwing me a bridal shower before the wedding.. we (me and FH) dont live together. so to get gifts we have no place for them, or no need for tangable gifts now but $....
we are saving what we can to use later.

I agree with you on giving gifts. If people want to give you gifts they will. I got a lot of gifts already and we didn't have a party.
