Did anyone have to pick their own engagement ring?
Long story short..I've always wanted to design my own engagement ring, and I made that very clear to FH in the beginning of our relationship.
So last year when FH proposed he bought me a BEAUTIFUL ring that I had mentioned I wanted, but its not an e-ring style, and he calls it my pre-engagement ring..
A year later..and I still have no clue what I want..I can't even deceide if I want a princess or round center stone! I wish I would have never told him I wanted to design it..because when it comes down to it..I can't make up my mind on what I want to wear..'forever'...hehe...all of them look beautiful to me!
Well, he took off from work next week and made an appt for us to meet with a jeweler, so needless to say..I have to come to a decision soon!! ...
Please post pics of your ring, or any ring for me to get some ideas...TIA!!

Mine is a tension set and it makes a heart shape when looked at from the side (I think it looks like a fox head...lol) It is from Helzbergs Diamonds in Roosevelt Field. I really like Princess Cut but the cool thing about the tension set is that from the top it looks like a princess cut, but it's a round. HTH!! Good luck and have fun designing it!!!!

i always wanted a princess cut.. but we used my grandfather's diamond so i got a round..lol. But i do love my ring now.. and i picked out the setting with FH .... I can't make up my mind either.. so don't feel bad. here's my ring...
pics aren't the best cause my hand kept shaking but you get the idea

I helped design mine. We went to stores and i tried on a bunch of things, I didnt want a round or a princess cut because I feel like they are a very common stone, I wanted something different. When I put on a pear cut i fell in love with it!
When we moved to FL, our neighbor ended up being a jewler, so we got to design it and order each diamond seperately and get exactly what we wanted without sitting i in a store. Pics of mine are in my album.
If you need any info on pricing or if you find something you like but want to do it cheaper or get a bigger stone for your budget let me know. I can put u in contact with her. She is amazing. My ring was apraized at over 9K and we paid 1/3 of that!!

i'll try to tke a picture of mine later, but at my mom's and dont' have my camera..
i always thought i wanted a princess cut solitaire.. and expressed that to fh and that's what he got.. bu i couldn't find anything to match it (band wise) so we had to go shopping again... and thi time i fell in love with a round stone.. on a channel setting.. .and i sit arond staring at it all day.. lol. i'd say go out and try rings on.. see which ones u do like.. and then design from there..

This is mine. Round channel set with round stone. From what I heard, the same with round stone will appear larger than a square/princess stone. I originally wanted a princess, but FH talked me into a round and I love it.

this is pretty much what mine looks like.. and i agree that the round stone wil look bigger.. my round stone ring looks bigger than my princess cut ring..

mine is an asscher cut with 3 round and 2 baguettes on each side

mine are in the album but it is kind of hard to tell. it is a round diamond and on each side are 3 little round ones w/a marquis to form the shape of a flower. my FH had the jeweler find a diamond first and then asked him to design a setting. since the jeweler knew i like floraly things he made it look like there is a flower on each side of the diamond.

my FH and i designed mine at bluenile.com. we went to tons of jewelry stores but we always left more confused than when we went in! on bluenile you know exactly what you are getting and it explains everything to you in detail. i did a round stone in a 4 prong setting and i agree that it makes it look bigger. my side stones are also prong set and they are so sparkly!!!

but just go window shoppin and see what you like i guess...and then piece together all the things you like about a ring!

there is a website called bluenile.com you can design rings and then if you are happy purchase them! try it maybe you can make on you like from there...you dont have to order it from them just play around! so you see how it looks

I picked mine out. I already have a wedding band..... it belonged to my great grandmother (I wish I had a pic of it). It's got 5 diamonds, in an antique style setting, each is about .5 k, so, it's kind of big. I didn't want to overpower it, so, I was originally going to go for a solitaire. When I was looking at settings, I just couldn't find a solitaire that I liked, so, I picked my setting, which has very small diamonds on either side....
