Did anyone just see on the news the little girl that was....

Original post by june262004

Handcuffed? I think it happenedin Florida. She was having a tantrum so bad that all the other students had to leave the room. Then she started climbing the walls kicking and screaming and punching the teacher. She was sent to the princaples office where she continued. She climbed on a chair and then on top of a table. She was on the floor kicking. They called the police and they came and said we are going to handcuff you. And they did.

Ok Im not a mom but I don't see why this was so Horrible maybe a little extreme but it probably taught her a lesson. Her parents are going to sue (of course)

Wheres Deb was this in the armpit?

I saw the video and I agree with most here..they were trying to restrain her to not HARM HER,,,as she was trying to harm THEM...no other choice....

if it was YOUR child.........would you want that to happen.......no.....i still say a 5 year old does not need to be handcuffed

ABSOLUTELY!

I'd rather have my child safe in handcuffs than possibly hurting herself like she could have!
What happens when she said she was calm and they let her go and she did something even more outrageous then CVLIMBING WALLS and HITTING TEACHERS!

i guess we will see when YOU have a child...

YES. if my child were risking hurting herself or another person, I would be ok with it, they didnt physically HURT her...and a five year old wont remember much of this anyway, and the other obvious emtional issues would in the end prevent her from understanding , and grasping the situation in the first place.....A psychologist/child educator is better suited to understand then any parent who is biased.

thats stupid Jonn...we would feel the same...your child is not five, so you cant imagine the situation, nor is she out of control...so
I can easily say...We'll see when you have an out of control emotionally disturbed five year old and roll my eyes too...because you have a child doesnt make you able to see the situation different or be RIGHT...your child is NOTHING like this one we are talking about, so your just like the rest of us..giving opinions and speculating...

oh i beg to difer.....a five year old would remember that for many years.....being handcuffed is a BIG deal.....just because you are five i truly dont think it is a reason not to, but come on...a five year old.........i could see if they were 10 or even 8 but five...thats just to young for me to agree with.......besides a teacher should have the right to hold back any child with out of being worried if they are going to be sued..........

let me ask you this JONN.....what if YOUR 5 year old child was beating his/her head on the floor, biting anyone who came near them or touched them, and was just TOTALLY out of control. WHAT if ANYTHING would you suggest the teacher should do at that point??????????????

SO until the school system changes THEIR regulations..this is the action needed to be taken!
AND when you encounter a ill 5 year old...you get back to me

So you agree or disagree with the parents?? I dont understand your point anymore?

And no I cant remember anything that happened when I was five, severe or not...handcuffing is not a SEVERE thing..its a memory to a five year old who has no conception of the extent of things, they dont process memories in DEGREES of how bad the event is..thats a misconception of PARENTS....Children's memories be it a five years old cupcake birthday cake party or a handcuffing are internalized the same..THIS I know...( thanks to $40,000 worth of studying)

I agree with the handcuffs ----

And if my child EVER acted like that, I'd probably use handcuffs to restrain her at HOME TOO.

There is obviously a complete and utter lack of discipline.

Geez...it has NOTHING to do with being SCARED of a 5 yr old!! GIVE ME A BREAK!!!

it has to do with their SAFETY and the SAFETY of those around them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another 5 year old might be scared of a 5 year old though. Who wants their kids to see that.

Re: Did anyone just see on the news the little girl that was....

this is not the first time kids have been handcuff...escpically in FL

that kid is out of control.

police can't fell bad for people just cause they are young or elderly.

parents will have no case cause the whole thing was viedo taped. any right minded jury will see the techniques used to restrain her.

i have kids 6 or 7 years old living next door to me that curse on a daily bases at other kids, back to the parents, etc... i would handcuff them in a heartbeat running around thinking they are gang bangers and what not.

he has NO idea what he would do...because he has NO IDEA what it is like to be in that situation and to have REGULATIONS

again...education is key here!
