Did anyone have any idea if they were getting engaged? I had some sort of an idea since we were together for 5 years. I was starting to get really impatient.

I knew it was coming cuz we went to look at erings together. I didn't know it was going to be that day (christmas eve eve). I thought it would have been sometime in the spring.

I had some idea we went ring shopping together and I gave him a few choices to pick from. I had no idea which ring he picked or when he was going to ask. I also was getting impatient since we were together 7 years

I though it was going to happen on my b~day (even though fh told me he would never ask on my b~day), so when my b~day came and went I kinda thought it was never going to happen but 2 and a half weeks later he proposed. I should have known but I had no clue!!!!

I had NO idea!!!! We were only together 6 mths when he proposed.....we spoke about it early in the relationship saying that we did want to get married and maybe after a yr we'd get engaged so I expected it but not soooooo soon
I had absolutely NO CLUE. Watch the video and you'll see just how surprised I really was lol.
FH and I had been together for 6 years before we were engaged, but I just didn't think it would happen when it did b/c I'm still in school until May and he's only had a steady full-time decent-paying job since June 2008.

I had no clue - yea we talked about it and he knew what kind of style I wanted but he played it off SOO well and had me thinking he never even went shopping yet.
We wanted to wait until he was tenured for teaching so i knew it would happen this school year i just didnt know how early on.
Obviously from our engagement video you can tell i was really surprised LOL

i had NO idea. we knew within weeks that this was 'it' but when he proposed after only 7 months i was SHOCKED! but it was hands down the best shock of my life! we planned for a year and a half though and imo being married to my best friend is AWESOME!

I knew we were getting engaged, just thought it would be 2-3 months later. To the point when he got down on one knee, I told him 'What are you doing? Get up! People are...' and then he said 'Janine, look...' I was totally shocked. We are on a Wine Tasting Cruise with 120 people and myself and 2 others run the event. So I was TOTALLY surprised!

My FH is horrible at surprises so I was COMPLETELY shocked when he proposed. We had talked about marriage, sure, but we had agreed we'd wait a year to get engaged since we were in the middle of buying a house and it was eating up all our money.
We got home from closing on our house and there he was, with a gorgeous ring.

Yes and i wish i didnt. i work in the store he got my ring from. i had saw that the ring i wanted was gone and found the job in the back with no name on it. and then our dumb a$$ diamond guy really ruined it when i spoke to him on the phone and said congrats when FH didnt even ask me yet. but he still surprised me when he asked me!
AHH! What a surprise ruiner!!!

He said it would happen in 2010. It happened this past December 2009 the weekend before Christmas on our yearly weekend getaway. I was SHOCKED!! He hung an engraved ornament on a christmas tree in the middle of the big blizzard with 'will you marry me' on it. He worked so hard planning it.

We were together for 8 years so I knew it was coming at some point. FH had me send him pictures of rings on the computer. I knew he was in the process of doing it but i did not know the date he would do it.
I actually made the plans for the night we got engaged. He had me pick a restaurant and decide on the plan for the night. So after dinner in long beach and a really long walk on the boardwalk he proposed on a bench as we watch the waves.
It was perfect for us.

I had NO clue. We'd been together for 4 1/2 years and we had talked about it, but I told him we should wait until I finished my degree and moved to my new job. So he totally surprised me and did it 2 months before my dissertation defense! He did call my parents and ask for permission, but besides them, no one knew!

FH and I went to look a rings way before he proposed, like a year. It's not like I actually chose a ring, because I loved everything.
It's weird, because the day he proposed, I felt magical. I was so excited for no reason. Something inside me knew it.
