Just wondering if you did / are having your BMs all wear their hair the same way.

I wasn't planning on doing that - figured I'd let them do what they were most comfortable doing. I used to hate it when I had to wear my hair up to a wedding b/c I have a REALLY round face. I look (and feel!) ridiculous with my hair all pulled back tightly. But of course, I'll wear my hair however the bride wants me to!

Did anyone else just let their BMs choose their own hairstyle? Did you really think it made a difference?

I just want them to all look / feel their best, and I figured they can pick their hairstyle better than I can... but do you think it makes a difference with the pictures, etc.?

im not going to tell them how to d it but i may just ask that no one leaves it down - i want a more formal look but as far as teh style that is totally up to them.

Brides who ask their girls to wear their hair a certain way is asking too much, I think. Hair and makeup is an individual preference. Don't make your girls feel uncomfortable.

I think this is a very strong opinion. Some people would think that making your girls wear the same dress is confining there tastes as well. I think that it is okay to ask everyone to decide together on a style or just on an updo or down or half up /down.

That's right, I do have a very strong opinion because I have made to feel very uncomfortable. I am one of those girls that always wears her hair down. And to ask me to put it up, is unfair.

I din't mean to upset you, which I clearly have. I was saying that there is nothing wrong with asking your girls to agree together on a hairstyle. Everyones wedding is different and brides should always think girls feelings when deciding on things for them.

My BMs picked their own hairstyles, dresses and shoes. They all wore the same color/fabric by the same manufacturer. It worked for us. I had other issues surrounding the wedding that were extremely stressful, that THIS was what I felt I did not need to stress over.

Nobody could ever have asked me to wear my hair like anyoen else - I have a short boy haircut. I would like to think that my hair wouldnt be the deciding factor keeping me out of a bridal party for the sake of the bride's need for uniformity. It can be done in other ways.

I'm having them all wear the same dress and the same color shoes (style doesn't matter) and I'm buying them each a necklace. Other than that, I don't care what they do...as long as they look nice.

I am debating this question myself! The girls dresses are all strapless, and an updo would look best, but a few of them have already asked me if I was gonna make them wear their hair all up b/c they hate the way it looks on them! Grrrrr!

No, all of my girls will wear their hair however they'd like. I want each of their individual styles to shine through because they are all wearing the same dresses.

I'm going to let my girls wear their hair however they would like, although I wouldn't care if a bride asked me to wear my hair a specific way. I've had the option of wearing it however I want, and I've been told I have to wear my hair all up. When I agree to be a BM I pretty much accept the fact that I'm going to do what I'm told and may not like everything from the dress, to the flowers, to the shoes to the hair, but every bride is different. At the end of the day, it's not about me, how I look, etc ... Granted, it's always nice to have a bride who is at least concerned about her girls feelings.

Not everyone looks nice in the same hairstyle, and its not fair to that one girl who looks awful with her hair all up, so I am letting them pick whatever they want, I also let them pick out the dress, and their shoes.

i told my girls i don;t care how they wear there hair. i'd like it to be up or have up half down. i would like them to be alittle more fancy for the wedding then there everyday hairstyle.

i picked out the dress... but as far as hair, jewlery, shoes, makeup and pocketbook... i let them pick their own. i want everyone to feel comfortable and beautiful. my MOH is 5'8' and one of my BM is 4'11' - should i make them wear the same sized heel? no way!! and i know that i HATE wearing my hair up, so i wouldn't forcefeed my style on anyone else. i'm paying for their hair and makeup and like i said, i picked the dress. everyone will look gorgeous in their own way.

IMO, it's a bit silly to be telling your friends how to wear their hair, especially if you're already making them wear matching dresses that they may or may not like. I trusted my friends to look beautiful that day. Some got their hair done, some did their own/each others' hair. They all wanted to look great and they all did. I think it was nice to let their individuality show through the matching outfits. There are pics in my album if you want to see.
I was in a friend's wedding recently and she let us wear our hair however we wanted, which was great, because we all had very different hair. Some girls had long, straight hair, some of us had short, curly hair. We all wore our hair how we wanted and it looked great.

I let my BM's pick their own hairstyle, shoes, and makeup. I didn't want to 'tell' them they had to wear it a certain way. They are all grown women, all with different styles and faces, and the rest didn't matter to me. As long as the dresses matched, I didn't care about the rest. They are all beautiful woman on their own!

Its funny, they all keep asking how I want them to wear their hair!! I am not going to suggest a hairstyle. They can pick their own, they all have different lengths. It will be easier.
