Any bros, sis, favorite aunt, uncle, cousin or friend. Some one special in your family to walk with your mom.
Dont stress jen, things will work out. I am sure there is someone who would be honored to play this part.
Jen hold on my mom is walking into the reception with Pauls mom. How about saddling up your mom with the grooms parent/parents

Re: Dillema help please
Jenn, I dispise my Mothers poor excuse for a boyfriend as well, we was present but I refused to let him be in pictures or participate in any way. My Mother & Richs Mother walked down the aisle together, they went to the alter & lit the smallest Unity candles to represent our two families. They were both sitting in the first seat in the first row on each side, so they just sat themselves. They walked back out together as well. Rich's Dad passed away, so Rich's Mom would have been alone too. Maybe you could do something like this, if you're worried about what to do about John's Dad, have him escort a grandma or special Aunt. As for the announcements, i'm sure there's a man in your family that would be honor to escort your Mom in to the party. I streesed over the annoucements & just skipped them. It all works out, trust me!!!

Re: Dillema help please
How about having the best man walk your mom down the aisle? I also like the idea of having both moms walk together.
Jennbaby, maybe ask your mom what she would want/feel comfortable with. She may have a suggestion or two for you. You can brainstorm together until you both feel comfortable with the decision.

Re: Dillema help please
for the church, could you just skip the parents walking down the aisle? Maybe just have them seated in the front from the very beginning, then just the BP and you and your Dad walk? They make the parents walk (usually) before the runner is put down, and no one is really paying that much attention anyway. Our parents walking down the aisle didn't even make it on the video. And DH mom (because she was hung over, but thats another story!) completely missed walking down the aisle, the BP had already started, and she was standing there like a dope! She had to quickly walk down one of the side aisles! For the reception - I think the best man would be a good idea, I also think making her your 'matron of honor' if you two are close is a good idea, lots of guys have their dad as their best man! good luck!

Re: Dillema help please
I have a similar situation - parents divorced, dad's remarried, mom's not. I asked my mother what she wanted and she is going to have her brother walk her in. How does your mother feel about the situation? I also attended a wedding several years ago where the mother of the bride walked in by herself, did a twirl on the dance floor, then went to her table. If you are really stressed about this whole thing, maybe skipping the whole introductions may be worth it. Good luck!

Jenn, Do you have an uneven bridal party? Maybe one of the ushers can walk her in and when they are announced have 2 girls and 1 guy walk in so the other usher can walk your mom in.
My situation is like Richsbride..my mom and dad are divorced (and don't get along) and FHs dad passed away. The moms will walk down the aisle together (I like the way Richsbride did it) and they will be announced to the reception together.

Wow I came in late to this but I think that last suggestion would work perfectly even though there were great options.

Re: Dillema help please
I was thinking the same thing as CarrieAnne. Maybe a longtime male friend to walk her down the aisle or during the entrance. Is there a guy maybe your mom is good friends with that is being invited, maybe he can walk with her.
This may even sound weird, but is there a couple your mom may be very close with and the couple could walk her down the aisle and in the reception hall.
