my church and recp. hall are about a half an hour away from each other. When doing my invites do i need to provide directions to the church and the hall, or to just the hall.

Re: Directional cards
I would definitely do both - some people may not go to the church

Re: Directional cards
personally i would just do RH (and get the directional cards from your venue). Everyone should have a GPS, or look up the directions somewhere....and pple should be on time to the church.
only exception is if you feel they dont have this ability on hand then provide both.....

I agree with this. I only inserted the directional cards for the hall that they provided and listed the church address on the invite.

Are many of your guests out of towners or completely unfamiliar with the area and/or older? Most people who are local and more technologically advanced have GPS and/or smartphones with GPS capability.
We're not including any directions in our invitations. Our invitation and reception cards both have the street addresses of the venues. I'll be including directions to the Church in our hotel bags, and will have directions available at our Church for people who do not know where the reception will be held.

Re: Directional cards
Because I figured everyone coming to the wedding regularly used a computer or had a smartphone, I put very detailed directions, mapquest links, etc. on my wedding website and included a card in my invitation that said, 'For directions, hotel information and more, please visit our wedding website at _____.'
Everybody got there!
