I'm getting married at Leonards, and with the growing cost of this wedding I am seriously considering doing my own centerpieces. Now I wouldn't personally be at the hall that day, I would send one of my BM or hostesses to do it. I want very simple orchid submerged in water with a candle on top. I was quoted $80 per table for this but can DIY for $35 max (could prob. do it for like 20-25 if I use only one stem of denrobium). Now my question: I know that some halls including Leonards require vendor insurance.....does this mean that I can't save a ton of cash and am forced to hire a florist for this VERY simple project?

Re: DIY Centerpiece HELP!
Try calling them and asking if you are allowed to provide your own flowers. Maybe you can have you BM's put them together the night before so all they have to do it drop them off- and not have to worry about putting anything together there.
Also- my cousin was quoted a ridiculous amount for center pieces so she provided the florist with the vases to put the flowers in and cut the cost in half. All the florist charged her was for the actual flowers.
Why do they want insurance for a florist? They don't stay there the whole time!

Re: DIY Centerpiece HELP!
The best thing to do is call Leanords. I really do not think that you will have to pay anything extra. I have had a party there and did my own centerpieces but I also worked there at the time so I don't know if there wasn't a problem because of that.
Call them but I am 95% positive you probably won't have to pay anything.

Re: DIY Centerpiece HELP!
Not sure why they want the florist to have insurance??? I know the DJ jas to have it in case a guest trips over a cord and decides to sue or something like that. At first I thought they wanted only the DJ to have it, but I read the contract and they said all vendors. Thanks for your advice :)

I don't see why they wouldn't allow you to.
I was planning on doing something similiar, but with calla lilys instead of orchids. I did find a floral supply wholesaler on the island that does sell to the public and the prices are very reasonable.
