DIY Centerpieces

DIY Centerpieces

I want to cut corners in every way I can. I'd like some kind of 'natural' looking centerpiece. I am trying to do a nature theme I think. (FH and I got engaged on a camping trip.) I was thinking some kind of vases with floating candles...Can anyone please give me suggestions on DIY centerpieces and post pics? I am not sure where to go or how much is reasonable to spend. Thanks!

These are my centerpieces. I bought them at JCpenny homestore. I saved a whole bunch. If you go into some department stores you may find something with floating candles.

I made floating candle centerpieces for the cocktail hour tables. It cost me $2 per centerpiece. I got floating candles from the 99c store and round fishbowl vases from the arts & crafts store.

I'm doing the large martini glasses which you can buy at Michaels or ACMoore (you can use a coupon & get them 1/2 off) and putting floating candles in those and rose petals on the table.

Hmm you can do watering cans or galvanized pails filled with fresh flowers and make it look like fresh picked flowers just stuffed in there.

Our DIY CP pics are in our professional album. With flowers it was about 25 bucks per table.

Re: DIY Centerpieces

Take a look at my centerpiece:

Look here!

It has changed a bit since I posted that thread. I am not doing the crystal garland and am actually making a 'placemat' of sorts for the vase to sit on - the silk leaves will be glued to a piece of cardboard and the vase will be put on top. The leaves will stick out from underneath the vase and you won't see the cardboard because the vase will be filled with coffee beans. I think it will look more streamlined and elegant this way. It will also make it nearly impossible for the waitstaff to set it up wrong. All they will have to do is place a candle in the vases, which will already have the coffee in them, and put the little placemat thing underneath the vase. Oh, and light the candle

Good luck! I had a lot of fun making the centerpiece sample and actually have all the leaves and the vases already. The vases were $4 a piece at Walmart and the leaves were $1 for a bag of 20, so I got like 20 bags I think, to use all over the place. I just need to find a good place to buy the candles now. I'll get the coffee beans at Costco in Sept. or something, closer to the wedding.

I was thinking of trying to do something like this with some petals or leaves on the table at the bottom to give it some more color!
ETA: minus those weird spiky hanging ball things!

Hi!

I've been looking for something like this!!! I just googled JCPenney Home and can't seem to find anything like this on their site. If you don't mind me asking, where exactly did you find these?

Thanks in advance!

Re: DIY Centerpieces

I got all my stuff for my centerpieces from IKEA. Silver platters and 5 white candles in different sizes. I did 12 centerpieces for $238. It looked beautiful that night with all the tables lit up by candlelight!
