DJ/Band suggestions

DJ/Band suggestions

Any suggestions for great bands or DJ?
My MAJOR concern is that I am a HUGE dance/vocal house music fan(Amber, Reina, Whitney, Deborah Cox) and it's important to me that if I book a band they will be able to sing songs that you hear in the clubs as well as the typical wedding songs.

Any suggestions?????????

If not a band then how about a CLASSY dj - no handing out hats/sunglasses, NO GROUP DANCES like the Macarena or Electric Slide!!!!!!

he was totally classy and was exactly what we wanted (and sounds like what u want too)

Dancejock. I sat on line here for weeks on end for hours and wrote a list of every single DJ recommended by brides and brides to be. If they had one negative comment (ie: they were ok but i heard stories about.....) I crossed them right off the list. The only one I found without a single complaint was Dancejock. I was going to book them for my wedding and then when I found out I was pregnant I had to cancel with them until we can figure out when we are going to reschedule this wedding.

i booked vj entertainment and they are awesome to deal with so have no concerns at all. and believe me, i didn't want my wedding to resemble my sweet 16 in anyway i.e. no give aways, no line dances, no glow sticks, and certainly no motivators. vj was very accomodating and i know they'll do great.

as for bands, i was at a wedding last night who had faze 4's play by play and they were absolutely fantastic. i went to a ton of band showcases, but not them of course, and they were by far the best i've heard. check them out for sure. hth.

Thanks for all of the replies!
Has anyone heard of Bravura?
They are a DJ/Live Music Entertainment group located in Woodbury

I also saw Code Bleu last night and they were really good - anyone use them?

We used the Projekt. They were amazing. They did play lots of current stuff and it sounded awesome. We got so many compliments on them.

I went to a wedding where they used Code Bleu. They were good too.

Definitely check out the Projekt.

We used Let Us Entertain You and loved them. They play whatever you want and are so wonderful to work with.

Re: DJ/Band suggestions

I booked with Starlight Express (DJ)! If you love all of the dance music,,,well then they are the DJ for you!! They have Vic the Latino from 103.5 as one of their MC's. Paul one of the MC's that we met with,,,told me that he can get Reina, Lucas Prata, and some others to sing at my wedding ,,,,,, for $6,000!!! I was floored. I cant afford that,,,but my best friend and I who are obsessed with Reina have a change fund to raise enough money to get her at my wedding!! LOL

Re: DJ/Band suggestions

we are using energy entertainment....very accomodating and more of a stay out of the way DJ than a showy, in your face giveaway DJ.

mark, the owner, is doing our wedding.

i suggest Bravura. We booked them about 3 weeks ago and we love our package.

They have dj services with live band add-ons like percussion, sax, keyboard/vocal.
check them out! its exactly what you are looking for!!
Ask for Tony
Good luck

I am so bummed - I just found out that the Projekt is booked for my day!!!
But I am meeting with Bravura to discuss options.
I am also going to see 2 of Franklin Wayne's bands play tonight and tomorrow night

I appreciate everyone's feedback - it is really helpful!!!

I was CRACKING UP about the Starlight Express and possibly having Reina sing at my wedding. That change fund is hilarious - I may have to do that too

I am also a big fan of dance/vocal house music and I was afraid that if I went with a band I would be limiting myself to the type of music I could have. So we went the DJ route. We booked Starlight Express. Vinny and Paul are great. No cheesy group dances if you dont want them. They did Vic Latino's wedding and Skribble's so that has to say something for them.
