How many DJ's did you all meet with? What did you do? Did you go make an appointment? What helped you make your decsiions? Do most DJ's take a credit card deposit or is it cash only?

I just met with one. He had a really great personality so that is what helped our decision. we gave him cash but most take cc.
he gave us a quote on here, we met him at our RH showcase (he is a recommended vendor), we set up an appt with him, than we booked him.

we saw a couple at show cases but met with one and saw their show and we loved them! we booked them a week after we saw their showcase

we met with 3 djs. we booked the 2nd one we met with. we basically booked based on who we felt most comfortable with and thought would mesh best with our crowd. he just happened to have great prices as wel!
we gave a deposit by check...but he also took cash or credit card...im not sure what other djs do for depost.
eta: we only went to the 3rd appt bc it was already scheduled for immediately after the 2nd...but otherwise we wouldnt have bothered bc we loved our dj so much!

I met with 2 DJ's and saw them both put on little showcases. Made appointments with both. The DJ I booked with I felt more comfortable with and knew wasn't going to be the cheesy dj and i felt the prices were perfect. I gave a check for deposit, not sure if they take cash

We met with three, but I saw two more at a showcase at my RH (one I didn't like, one was out of our budget). We booked the third one. We actually had appointments with the first two, really like the first one even though he was out of our budget and then called the third one on a whim because we had time to kill and had driven all the way to LI from NJ. We ended up really loving him. We gave him our deposit by check, but I think he may have taken credit cards too.

we saw a few at showcases. we werent directly hunting for a DJ at the time, we just fell into their laps i guess you could say. we put the deposit on a credit card to get points to use towards honeymoon airfare!

Because.. my parents went to a wedding somewhere and they raved about the DJ. And when I tried to show him some information about a different DJ he's like 'why are you showing me this? This is not the DJ donna said we should use.' He has no idea how these things work and he thinks we have all the time in the world.. I should just be able to do everything...

we were having a hard time as well. to us music was the big thing that set the mood for our wedding but when you know what you want and find it its the greatest thing ever. theres so many DJs out there you just have to find what suits your personalities and needs. we booked Bravura and i couldnt be happier! they were exactly what we were looking for! good luck!!! just ba sure of what you want and go see as many as you possibly can!
i recommend: FM entertainment starlight express bravura - obvi LI Sound Body Rock Barattini Productions

At first I was having a hard time with FH about vendors he thought we were too. I know you guys will find what you are looking for just tell him that it is good to check a couple of djs or any other vendor before making the decision this could be helpful in terms of pricing and what you both really want. We were very nervous because my family is huge and they love to party i mean they find any excuse to have a party and his family is huge as well and they like partying. We wanted a spanish dj but not any kind of dj we wanted someone professional. We tried booking the dj FH's brother used at his wedding because we thought they were good but they never returned our calls and they really didn't want to meet us because 'we were early' so we decided to book Bravura we met the Djs and we couldn't be happier they are great!...good luck with your hunt! trust me FH will come to term sooner or later mine did

ok if thats what you want DEFINITELY look into Parties Alive, i know the owner richie.. the guy is so nice, if youre looking for something low keyish he is your man! my sister used him for her wedding and he was great!
I am meeting with 3 DJ's next week: Li Sound, Unlimited Entertainment (house DJ), and Body Rock. I already know I am going to probably book Unlimited Entertainment because of their price, reputation, and because they are a house DJ.
Did you know that your house DJ's/ Photographers/ Videographers, etc you do not have to pay for a meal? If they are not the house recommendations you have to pay for their meals!!! Well at least at Chateau La Mer you do...

We saw one at twoty and i spoke with them on the phone...we physically went to see three DJ's and we booked with the third on the spot, LI Sound. They gave us a good deal for what we wanted and we have heard great things about them too.
But just remember that whatever you want from the DJ usually add's another person to feed...We have a DJ/MC, lighting tech AND a plasma tech, so that means I have to feed 4 vendors...
