Do guests REALLY take the CP home???

Original post by EverlovingEv

I've been to plenty of weddings and have never seen this, but heard it a lot from florists.

Personally, I think it's a little silly to take the brides CP home and hope no one does that at my wedding.

If you want flowers at home, buy them yourself. Don't take my flowers!

What do you think?

ETA: I want 30 inch square vases that the florist is ordering just for me and I told him I'd return them after the wedding. If guests take them, then I'll have to be paying for each one.

Maybe you could have the RH take the CPs off the table just before the wedding is ending .... not sure how that would work out, people might not even notice though ....

ive been to plenty of wedding where we take the cp home... ususally it's a game like the person whose bday is closest to the day, or a penny taped under their candle

I am giving mine to who ever has a sticker (or whatever) on their chair. We'll place the stickers stragically. !st off I don't live in NY, 2ndly *** would I do w/ all those CP's We leave that Monday for our HM so we wouldn't get to appreciate them. This way, someone can.

i have never been to a wedding where they did the CP game. I am also retning tall vases for my CP's and they need to be returned back to the florist so i wont be giving away my CP's to my guests. I also dont plan on shleping them all the way to my house. Maybe give them to charity or theyll just figure out what to do with them at the end of the night

How much would each one be if you decide to pay for it?

I'm expecting my guests to take home the CPs...The dj will probably play a game to see who wins it, or we'll put a quarter under the plate of one person at the table, and he/she gets it...

I edited my orignal post so that you can understand my situation. I'm having the florist order about 22 brand new 30 inch square vases that are supposedly very expensive. I'd rather not have my guests keep them b/c I'll have to pay for them that way. The florist said he'd let me 'rent' them from him if I gave them back.

I guess i'll have to keep an eye on the guests checking out my centerpieces for an extended period of time.

Ohhhhhh, haha, yeah, no, I wouldn't want everyone walking out with those either I didn't realize

I don't remember at all but if someone does decided to want to take them home, they can. I just really doubt they will. The wedding is in LI and most of my guests live in Bklyn. It's 1.5hr drive

I've been to weddings where people at the RH take the flowers down towards the end and wrap them into small bouquets so each guest can take some flowers home. That way the flowers go but the vases stay and go back to the florist. See if you RH does that!

If it's a tall cp, I think the florist places the arrangement on top and just makes it look like the flowers extend all the way down into the vase.
That way, guests can take home the flowers and leave the vases behind.
That's what my florist is doing.

ive been to a few where you could take the flowers but had to leave the vases - the florist should be able to finagle something so that this can be done...

hey date twin!!!

I have never been to a wedding where there is a game for the centerpieces but all weddings I have been do guests have left with the flowers.

One wedding I went to where they had large centerpeices where you could not just bring it home towards the end of the wedding someone started taking them a part and making up little bo-ks and handed them out as you left. I thought that was really nice and worked out well.

I think its a nice gesture to give them away and some guests look forward to possibly winning one.

I went to my best friend's wedding this summer, and what she did was have the game, but it was made very clear that you take the FLOWERS home but have to leave the vase. No one took them b/c they were huuuuuge and it'd be hard with no vase, but we all just took pieces from it and made our own little personal ones to take home with us. It was nice.

every wedding ive ever been to people take the cp's home.. there was 1 recently that the bride had high ones and the florist came in before the end of the night, disassembled them and handed out lillies individually wrapped so the bride could return the high cp's

somehow spread the word about theflowers cango and centerpieces staying. Or, see if your reception hall can rap up the flowers w/o the vase for people to take home! All you have to provide maybe is the celophane to wrap them in.

Re: Do guests REALLY take the CP home???

Thanks girls. The CP is very tall and the flowers will extend all the way into the vase and the distance between the hall and the guest's homes is 1.5hours so I'm guessing no one will take them home. Again, most of my guests are Russian and this isn't common at Russian weddings so I don't think this is something I have to worry about. However, if someone does want them, I'll happily pay for that CP so that they can have it.

Thanks again!
