Just wondering if any of you guys REALLY believe in ghosts??? Have you ever seen one? Let me tell you a wierd story.... About a yr ago, for like a 3 month period, I was seeing strange things... One morning, I opened my eyes in bed to see a MAN leaning forward STARING RIGHT AT ME and SMILING! I have NEVER seen this man before, and I can describe him to a T....I screamed, said 'OMG...who IS THAT IN MY ROOM!' and buried my head in my pillow, frozen in fear. When I reopened my eyes, he was gone....He had brown hair, green eyes, checkered button down shirt, and jeans...looked kind of spanish.... Another morning, some time later, I woke up again, opened my eyes, and THE SAME MAN was standing at my bed right by my head...all I could see was the waist of his checkered shirt and his jeans and belt cause he was standing so close....once again, I freaked out, screamed OH MY GOD and jumped out of bed..only, no one was there. I was TERRFIED. THEN...on another occasion...I woke up, and there was an old lady holding a young boys hand...they were standing at the foot of my bed.... Maybe these are all hallucintaions, but oddly, they all took place in broad daylight...and I am a light sleeper, so I wake up instantly...it;s not like I was half awake.... anyone else have any 'ghostly' experiences? Or am I just crazy? lolol

I totally believe!
Odd aside: me and my husband are Debbie and Darren.
Kind of ghost like but kind of not. When Darren and I first started dating I was at his house (we had been dating a little less than two months at this point) We were hanging out outside his house and I got a weird feeling. I got up and said I was leaving and gave Darren a hug. As we were hugging, he asked me why I was leaving and I told him 'My grandfather just died' he looked at me very odd but I left immediately anyway. I drove home (a 15 minute drive) as I was walking in the house my mother was hanging up the phone and told me that was the hospital, your grandfather passed away about 15 minutes ago.
Things similar to this happen to my family all of the time. The one that stands out in my mind, though, was a dream I had that my father was killed in a convenience store by a robber and a couple days had another dream about him dying. A week after the last dream, he was killed in a car accident for real
Oh, my grandma would wake up and see my dead grandfather lying next to her on the bed...weird.

i have a couple of stories.
fh's uncle died a couple years ago, and fsil lived with him in brooklyn for a while. fsil just had a baby, who was only a couple months old when he died. fh's niece when she was around 2 years old would always say she saw a uncle jimmy in the rocking chair bleeding from his head.(he was very sick and had fallen one time and cut his head and bled very badly) she would also play with a little girl whose face was all cut up and bleeding and wore a white dress.she would see so many ghosts in that house, it was so scary.
in fh's house whenever i am home alone i always hear footsteps, and i always hear talking and i'll go check if the t.v is on and it isnt. another thing, about 2 years ago, fmil had gotten fh's niece a little basketball hoop that you hang on the door, and you had to get a basket in or hit the side for it to talk and sing. when me and fh were sleeping it would go of in the middle of the night for the longest time. it went off every night for a week or two, and then we took it down.

I have an Aunt who swears that she knows something bad is going to happen when she smells Lillies (sp). A week after my wedding my Uncle was hit by a car - he is ok. My Aunt was walking up the stairs in my sisters appartment & she says she smelt them she knew she was going to get a phone call.
Another cousin of the family called another of my Aunts to find out how my Uncle was b/4 anything even happened to him. They hadnt spoken in 5 years.
Not ghosts but freaky.
I think they know to stay away from me b/c I would fall over and die.

My future daughter in law has this toy keyboard that habitually will just play on it's own. Well one day, it got so annoying I decided I was just going to turn it off. I pick it up and find that not only is it already turned off; but there are no batteries in it at all.
Freaky.

actually they say that the scent of flowers, usually roses, can sometime accompany benevolent spirits.

Oh yeah I remember one thing that happens to me every once in awhile. The TV in our bedroom will mute itsself even though no one is near the remote. It happened alot one night and I got so annoyed I yelled stop it and it did.
But I really think it may just be a problem with the remote.
I know I am going to be awake all night with these stories.

Re: Do you believe in ghosts???? (LONG)
I think these stories are absolutely wonderful :) I'm a bit of a wierdo - I've been interested in ghosts since I was a little kid! I've never really seen anything clearly enough to say 'That's a ghost!' but I do have a pretty creepy story to share. When I was about 10 or 11, My friends and I were all trying to scare each other with the 'Bloody Mary' mirror ghost. If you're not familiar with this urban legend the story is that somehow she died a horrible death (there's abucnh of variations how) and you can summon her ghost by shutting out the lights and knocking on a mirror and saying her name. Supposedly this 'calls' her and she'll appear in the mirror to try and get out... So there we were, a bunch of bored kids at one of my Grandma's Irish-American Association Christmas parties, and naturally, we're all scaring each otther with the story. We were going around the circle daring each other to do it and no one would, so I volunteered. :) Anyway - we lock ourselves in the small bathroom, shut out the lights, and I started knocking on the mirror, saying Bloody Mary after each knock. WELL let me tell you HOW CREEPED OUT we got when the mirror started flickering!!!!!!!!!! I am not kidding, it was very faint, but I swear to God there was something moving in that mirror!!! We never got past that part though, bc all of a sudden the lights flew on as our parents yanked the door open and screamed at us for locking ourselves in the bathroom in the dark!!! And that was the end of that experiment. But I've alwasy remembered that to this day, and wondered.. what would we have seen if that door never opened? Creepy, huh?

Sometimes my mother comes to me in my sleep and we have in depth conversations. I can feel her and touch her and I wake up sweating. Last time was right after we got engaged and FI started shaking me and hitting me to get up because the whole bed was a puddle of sweat. I was so hot and disoriented but the AC was blowing on me full blast. I ended up having to take a shower and when I finally went back to sleep and tried to resume the conversation she was not there. I guess there was a sale at the Nordstrom's in heaven or something!!!
I had another experience in college..I had an unlisted number and got a collect call from someone that claimed to be my cousin, it sounded like him so I accepted. This 'person' (I use the term lightly) started talking about the past and remembering all the nicknames we had for each other and how my cousin locked me in an elevator and turned out the lights (still afraid of elevators today!) and all sorts of personal stuff. I asked him why he was calling at 7am to reminise after 4 years of no contact. He just kept going on and on about our childhood. Then the line went dead. So, I went back to sleep and thought nothing of it. These collect calls from my 'cousin' went on for a week and then stopped just as sudden as they started. I get the phone bill and they were coming from the county prison 30 mins from my apt...FREAKED OUT! I called my grandma and my aunt to tell them about these calls and they both told me I was a nut. My roomies knew I was not nuts because I made them take the calls. So I finally call my cousin and he says I am a nutcase too. I accused him of being in jail and being a sick f**k. I called the prison and (thank g-d) no one I knew or was related to was in the prison. To this day, we have no idea what stemed the calls or who/what is was.

Re: Do you believe in ghosts???? (LONG)
FREAKING OUT FREAKING OUT!!! My dad just got a bill from Consumer Reports Magazine. I called them up and said that he passed away and I never got an issue of the magazine so I am not paying. The woman was very polite and cancelled it and counted it as a wash. I asked out of curiosity when it was ordered and she told me December 19, 2003. Well, no way he ordered it, he died that morning. He couldn't see straight so I thoroughly doubt he was at the computer ordering Consumer Reports!!!!
I used to live in the apartment above my parents. One nights, about 6 years ago, I was asleep in my room with my boxer pup lying next to me. I was awoken by the sound of him growling but I couldn't open my eyes. I was fully aware of all the sounds in the room, I know I was awake but I couldn't for the life of me get my eyes open. And then all of a sudden it was like I was being strangled by someone. I thrashed around until it stopped and then I was finally able to open my eyes. My dog continued to growl into a dark corner.
Same apartment, a couple of years later but in a different bedroom something woke me up and I opened my eyes to an apparition houvering above my bed that looked like a human skull.
Few years after, same place, my roommate and I were out for the day. We saw my dad when we came back and he was complaining about how loud we were playing drums upstairs. We told him we weren't home and no one else had access to our apartment. We went upstairs and her djembe was lying completely upside down in the center of a doorway. Around this time, we were living with another girl who kept seeing an older woman sitting at the kitchen table - she liked to sing.
I've got so many stories like this. It amazes me that I haven't died of fright yet!

I believe....I believe!!!!
I have seen some things when I was younger. I had a friend that lived in east rockaway....The house that they rented used to be owned by a church and on one side lived the priest, and on the other side lived 2 nuns...Well we used to see the Laundry Shoot open up by its self and close by itself. We also used to see his closet door open and close by itself....and when we used to go over to hang out we would hear foot steps upstairs, but no one was at home but us... Scott
I grew up in East Rockaway...but I'm not really sure about the location you are talking about. A friend of mine from high school that lived in East Rockaway used to see soldiers walking around her house...supposedly way back East Rockaway used to be army grounds or something like that. Who is your friend maybe I know him? FM me

Re: Do you believe in ghosts???? (LONG)
ok, that's it.............. it's just me and my two little doggies, so it looks like I am going to have to put together a slummber party tonight, who's want's to come? And the lights will be left on!!
Here is my TX ghost story. IN college, I had two girlfriends stay the over after partying all night. In the morning, I wake up and look at my wall and there was this old man with a long beard (he was dressed as a train engineer) smiling ear to ear. I screamed so loud and I said, 'Who are you?' ' Get out of my HOuse' 'Who are you?' My girlfriends look at me as if I were nuts and thought I was dreaming. But, I was not dreaming, I was up already for a few minutes. I later found out that a old railroad ran through my apt. complex at one time.
Another story, I was living with my friend for a while and she had mentioned that her house was haunted. I lived with her for a good year and I had never felt any presence of a ghost. The day before I moved out, I had my bf at the time stay over. I said to myself, 'Ghost, if you exist let me feel your presence' Yes, I am a nut. WEll, we were napping and I woke up and I was laying there with my eyes close when I felt the presence of someone spooning me. I felt their legs rubbing up against mine. I thought it was my BF but I looked over and he was across the bed!! I had been awake for a while with my eyes close. Spooky! So I guess it was the ghost way of saying he exists.
