Just wondering if any of you guys REALLY believe in ghosts??? Have you ever seen one? Let me tell you a wierd story.... About a yr ago, for like a 3 month period, I was seeing strange things... One morning, I opened my eyes in bed to see a MAN leaning forward STARING RIGHT AT ME and SMILING! I have NEVER seen this man before, and I can describe him to a T....I screamed, said 'OMG...who IS THAT IN MY ROOM!' and buried my head in my pillow, frozen in fear. When I reopened my eyes, he was gone....He had brown hair, green eyes, checkered button down shirt, and jeans...looked kind of spanish.... Another morning, some time later, I woke up again, opened my eyes, and THE SAME MAN was standing at my bed right by my head...all I could see was the waist of his checkered shirt and his jeans and belt cause he was standing so close....once again, I freaked out, screamed OH MY GOD and jumped out of bed..only, no one was there. I was TERRFIED. THEN...on another occasion...I woke up, and there was an old lady holding a young boys hand...they were standing at the foot of my bed.... Maybe these are all hallucintaions, but oddly, they all took place in broad daylight...and I am a light sleeper, so I wake up instantly...it;s not like I was half awake.... anyone else have any 'ghostly' experiences? Or am I just crazy? lolol

i do. we actually have kind of a weird thing that happens in my house. one day DH was taking a nap and he heard voices, like talking on the radio, he decieded to ignore it just go back to sleep. as he was trying to sleep the voices got louder and he decided to go downstairs and turn off the radio. when he got down stairs, the radio was not on. i just thought it was odd, not ghostly...but two nights ago we had some friends over for dinner and they were all outside, i was inside cutting fruit for dessert. we had been listening to cds, but they had stopped. I'm in the kitchen chopping away, listening to NPR, or what I thought was NPR...but then I think to myself, thats weird, i didn't put the radio on. sure enough i go in the living room, and the radio isn't on, but clear as day i had been listening to the news. it was really freaky, but i wasn't scared. just strange.
this happens all the time in my parents house. For years, they searched the house for a radio. Never could find one. Many other things happened too.
So, Neesie - yes! I totally believe you. How terrifying. Tell them to leave you alone!
I BELIEVE!!!! this happens to me too!!!!! The first time it sounded more like people sitting around having a conversation (I thought it was my parents tv b/c their bedroom is right below mine). So I just kept trying to ignore it and fall asleep, but it just kept getting louder so I went downstairs to lower their tv and it was off!!! I still hear it on occasion (a few weeks ago it sounded like someone playing music and talking). freaks me out!
I have another story: My friends brother passed away when he was about 17 years old (he had a heart condition and was sick for years). My friend's room was next door to his and he would often call for her in the middle of the night when he needed something...she would wake up in the middle of the night after he had passed and still hear him calling her. Another time she fell asleep with her tv on and she sensed that someone came in her room, turned it off, tucked her in and gave her a kiss goodnight. The next morning she thanked her mom for turning it off (and then her dad) and neither had been in her room all night!

I havent been bothered in a while....but I always am a little worred when i first wake up that someone is going to be standing by my bed... One time I was napping at FH's apartment, and he walked into the room to get something out of his closet, and I SCREAMED AND JUMPED clear out of the bed! He started laughing, but he knew the story, so he apologized for sneaking up next to me like that....like I said, i am a VERY light sleeper, so I would rather you wake me up with loud noise than quiet sneaky noises, since I am going to hear you anyways....lol

When we were younger, both my sister and myself would often wake up in the middle of the night and see a woman standing by our bedroom doors.
On other occasions, I would be woken from a sound sleep by the sensation that someone had come and sat down on the bed next to me. When I looked up, no one was there.

I have a story for you- My exboyfriends sister passed away when she was 17 in a car accident in which she was burned. She lasted for ten days in the hospital before succumbing. About three years later, my ex's parents adopted a young boy and named him after Debbie. Darren, who is 8, says he has conversations with Debbie alot, whom he never met. One day, Darren was almost seriously hurt when he was three playing in a playground he always played at. He fell down off the jungle gym and the fall was actually broken by a large mat recently installed the day before. A few seconds later, a car whizzed by and had a license plate that simply said DEBBIE on the back. My ex's mother swears it was her who saved him. If he had fallen the day before there, he would have had a concussion. Or worse.

WOW! I just went to tell my co-worker about this thread,I say 'Vita, listen to THIS story(without talking to her at all about it previously), and she goes 'You're not gonna tell me a story like my friend Lisa did about how she wakes up feeling like someone is sitting on her bed, are you?' and I was like....uhhhhhhhh.....as a matter of fact...and I showed her this thread...
I AM GETTING PARANOID NOW!

I totally believe!
Odd aside: me and my husband are Debbie and Darren.
Kind of ghost like but kind of not. When Darren and I first started dating I was at his house (we had been dating a little less than two months at this point) We were hanging out outside his house and I got a weird feeling. I got up and said I was leaving and gave Darren a hug. As we were hugging, he asked me why I was leaving and I told him 'My grandfather just died' he looked at me very odd but I left immediately anyway. I drove home (a 15 minute drive) as I was walking in the house my mother was hanging up the phone and told me that was the hospital, your grandfather passed away about 15 minutes ago.

I do as well. My MIL had an experience. I wish she could tell you all this story, because she is such a believer and I get such chills when she tells it.
In their old house in Queens Village when my husband, BIL and SIL were all very little there was a blackout in the middle of winter during a n'or easter storm. FIL was away on business. It was nighttime and really cold out, and when the power went out, the heat did as well. She put my husband and his brother to bed all bundled up in their cold room. She left them to check on the baby- and when she entered the nursery, it was very warm and there was a glow to the room, the glow of a nightlight almost. Then when she looked in the corner of the room, she saw a little girl on a tricycle, and when she looked away, she was gone. Turns out, it was the neighbors daughter who was unfortunately hit by a car a couple of years ago while on her tricycle.
The little girl was there pretecting the baby from the cold. The room stayed warm the entire night. MIL had the 2 boys sleep in there with the baby until the power came back on.
now that gave me chills.
I totally believe in spirits, FH thinks I'm insane b/c of the things I tell him. My sister's house has been in my family since the late 18th century, and we've had alot of family incidences there. Needless to say we'll be sitting in a certain spot in the house and smell strong perfume pass us by. Then my 3yr twin nieces got out of bed one night and went to 'the spot' and one was telling the other not to be afraid of the bunny ghost and was pointing. My sister couldn't believe what she was hearing at 2am.
Supposedly spirits speak to children. My 4yr old nephew was at a neighbors funeral and he out of the blue started talking to the sky like he was having a dialogue with her. Very wierd.

I've heard that. My friend's DH died when he was young (early 30s) and they had a 2 year old girl. We've all seen it at different times when she has a conversation with her daddy. It can happen anywhere, anytime. It looks like she's talking to the walls, the ceiling, the sky, etc.

Try researching the land... there has to be some history attached to it or these spirits are somehow attached to your family.

Re: Do you believe in ghosts???? (LONG)
i think the whole block that we lived on in Elmhurst was haunted. Three different people (including us) had experiences with ghosts.
a neighbor friend had a rocking chair start rocking and the sheets come off them.
another neighbor friend had her suitcase unpacked bit by bit when she was packing.
and my stepmother said she knew we had a ghost (she tells me this years after we moved out). She would see it out of the corner of her eye and hear it sometimes.... and she said she could tell he was sad when we were moving. (she's a little weird so i don't know if i believe that).

Re: Do you believe in ghosts???? (LONG)
My brother was killed in a car accident 10 years ago (he was 17) his name was Jack. I was watching TV one night after he died in the den were my little brother play-pen was. In the play-pen was a toy that played nursery rhymes when you touched it. All of a sudden as I was watching TV the toy started to sing......Jack and Jill went up the hill I FREAKED out picked the toy up and it was not even on it was off. I never believed in ghosts before but after that I am not 100% against them now
