hi, just wanted to clarify things... my friend was out at the time, so i met up with her at the restaurant, as she was leaving and i gave her the dog and all his belongings. she then drove the dog to her house, but never made it in her house, she lost him as she was getting out of the car. sorry if i confused anyone
did you give her the dog with the leash on?

I am so DISGUSTED by this, your 'friend' is unbelieveable, I would definitely try to talk to her and let her know how much money it cost, and see if you can get at least an apology for it, and then, like someone said, I'd probably sue her for the cost!!!
