For some things yes......like bags, jeans, shoes. I would never buy clothes from certain stores (Wal Mart, K Mart, etc) but thats just me.

Geez, I guess I am a little materialistic

I would have to say yes i am but i can't afford to be that way anymore....

We are saving for a house and once we buy it..we will need to save even more.

But i am finding it hard to not buy the clothing and stuff that i normally buy

I don't consider myself materialistic. I won't shop at Wal-Mart, but that's because I object to their business practices.

i myself will buy clothes anywhere because clothes to me are not something i would spend tons of money on..jeans that cost 80 are the same as jeans from Target to me..JMO..i guess i'm not materialistic. as a matter of fact..fh hates that about me because he is a clothes horse and he would never go into target for clothes..

Funny, I was more materialistic when I had less cash to spend, though now DH and I are more into saving mode so I have not shopped in a while. I won't buy shoes at Payless (except for sandals) because the quality is crappy. With sandals, I only wear them for a few months so I don't care if they fall apart. I would never buy clothes at KMart or Walmart, though.

I love articles that have those 'style on a budget' articles because they always find great things that aren't expensive. It also helps that Target has come a long way with bags and shoes and clothes that are more fashionable, though I still get most of my clothes at other stores. (But I did get a really nice Isaac Mizrahi blazer that I have gotten lots of compliments on, and it was only $30!)

DH and I are the same - we're only materialistic about cars.

As for clothing, there's really no label that I prefer. If it looks good on me I buy it!

No.

I will wear any brand of clothing, as long as it fits me well. I would drive any kind of car, as long as it is a safe one. I'll buy shoes from anywhere, including Payless, if they are comfy.

BUT I have a terrible weakness for designer bags. They also must be the real thing- no knock-offs.

I think you get what you pay for.

Some things are worth the extra buck. Some things aren't.

I'm not sure if this makes me materialistic??

To me: 'nice' jeans are ones that cost 50 or 60 from the Gap. And 'cheap' ones are ones I buy in NY&Co. I have both kinds! But that might still be cheap to someone else who spends 2 or 3 hundred dollars on jeans...

I'm not materialistic at all, I will shop anywhere that there is a bargain!

no. I buy one bag a year(maybe). I wear the same shoes almost everyday because they are comfortable and I am not risking another sprained ankle so that I can't workout just to wear heals. I do wear them occasionally, though, just not to work that much.
I can't afford new clothes as much as I would like because of the new house. We need to buy every piece of furniture!

I drive a '93 cavalier, and it looks like shi*t. But I drive to the train station everyday, so who cares.

I gues I am slightly materialistic about some things though. My wedding shows it, and I love jeans that fit my curvy butt nice, and they are $$$$

Re: Do you consider yourself

There are stores I don't shop in, mainly b/c I don't like the styles, not b/c of the brand name. I don't care much about brandnames at all, and actually hate wearing things that broadcast brand names. I materialistic in the sense that I like having stuff. I love to shop and would like to be able to afford the finer things in life...I just can't right now.

ETA: The most expensive stores I shop in are Express and the Limited! However, the bedroom furniture we bought was VERY expensive, b/c I would only buy the top brands for a lifelong purchase. So yeah, I am a bit materialistic.

Nope

Re: Do you consider yourself

I'm weird about stuff like this. I love designer bags, yet most of my clothes are in the Gap/NY&Co type of price range. I buy high-end hair products and makeup, but I'll get sandals at Payless or Target. And we drive a Saturn, but have bought expensive (at least IMO) furniture.

So I'm a strange combo of materialistic and cheap :)

i'm not. i see some nice clothes in kmart. when you're going into the brand name stores, you're paying for the label for than anything else.

OMG! my first car was an '86 Cavalier.. it was such a piece of cr@p!! the exhaust pipe had this huge hole in it, and made a horrible sound whenever I drove it. so my uncle's friend took an old alpo can, split it open, and clamped it around the pipe to kill the noise..it worked like magic, but from that day on, I was known as the girl who drove the 'Alpo-Mobile'!!!!!!
