Do you think that we all should be have the ability to choose where we want to be on September 11th? I know it has effected everyone in very different ways and people have their own opinions on the subject but who feels that we should have the right to say where we want to be on that day?
My husband has to take a track line safety course on September 11th (hes an electrician) and he does not want to because he doesnt feel safe working in the tunnels all day on that day. I personally feel that we are probably the safest on this one day of the year because that is when everyone is truly looking for something. But I do feel that all of our opinions and feelings should be respected on that day. No one should be able to dictate to us how we should feel or where we want to be on September 11th.
Does anyone else feel this way?

Re: Do you feel like this about 9/11?
Last year I took the day off. This year I have decided to go to work, not sure why, but DH is working that day (he is a cop who spent from that day until the end of October digging), so no need to be home alone.
I still cry when I see pictures or a show that shows what happened that day. I watch them, I am not sure why. I guess because I still do not really believe that they are gone and that. Just hearing the words 9/11 brings tears to my eyes.
I also believe it should be a national holiday.
What scares me is that the gov't seems to be getting a bit lax again. Maybe it just seems that way b/c the news media has moved on and are not reporting every little thing anymore, but I know in NYC the cops overtime has been cust, the checkpoints have been slowly going away. How can you possible cut cops and close firehouses so soon after what happened. These brave men and women have unfortunatly been put in the position of being our front line, who gave up so much to save others. Well, that is a whole other story,. Sorry, I almost went off on a tangent!

Re: Do you feel like this about 9/11?
Hey everyone! I'm checkin gin here...I cant beleive it is 2 years. I can't even get beyond the home page of the link..because I know I will lose it here at work. I know Thurs will be a hard day for me. I will go to work- ..and prob go to St pats at lunch and light a candle. I will have the radio on in the morning, and listen to the bells chime at the time those planes hit. I will listen to my 'patriotic' CDS at work including 'have you forgotten?' I will cry..
I have had some pictures of the skin of the building hanging up in my office since the day we returned to work (we were in the original hot zone- 2 blks north of bleeker).
I will remember where I was and who I was with when I saw the plane hit..and the 2nd one hit too...I will remember our LOOONG WAY out of the city..and how I didnt' make it home that night.... and I will remember working crazy hours in Nov and dec- going hom ein car service at 11 at night..and praying to G-d that someday soon we would have a baby.
I will hug Julianne, and 'talk' to her about those buildings, about how her Grandpa she never met..worked on those buildings..and completed the observation deck. How we miss him and a tangible proof of his beautiful work.
