I would have answered no to this question, but I shamefully did today. Someone showed me an invitation they received. I thought it was weird because it was in a business envelope. I let out a small gasp when I saw that it was done like a flyer. I quickly recovered and said they came out real nice. But I felt really bad afterwards. Do you find yourself judging other people's weddings?

Re: Do you judge other people weddings? POLL
of course i guess that's how we establish what we like and don't like for our own weddings. my mom even said let's see how other people's wedding are first so we know what to do at mine. hehe

i'm totally in the same boat as you! it's just something i cannot control. i tell them it's 'nice' but in my mind i think about how i would do it better . i'm sure ppl thought the same and didn;t say anything bad about my own wedding. =)

Yes, I do also. Not the right thing to do, but we all compare our stuff to others in one or another.
I have compared my soon-to-be-wedding with my ex-boss's son's wedding which was top notch everything and I also compare it against a friend's wedding from last Summer upstate which was very casual and low-key. Mine's somewhere in the middle - but closer to the higher-end wedding.

I think we all do...even if we don't want to admit. I don't think we do it in a negative way, but just compairson...yeah...that's it!

Yes & I think it has lots to do with being in NY and having our extravagant weddings that we must have. We try to meet what everyone else is looking for. Im ashamed of the same judgement I had for a wedding I went to in VA. Completely different but hey, that was their way. Not what Im used to.

I've been to so many weddings in different areas, that its tough not to compare them to each other. One of my favorite weddings of all time was the exact opposite of an LI extravaganza--which is one reason it was so great!
Edited to add: Thankfully, all of the weddings in which I've attended have all really reflected the personalities of the bride and grooms...so I've always had a wonderful time as a guest!

Oh man I feel like the minority in saying No I don't..... Maybe it is because I did my whole wedding on a pretty tight budget and would feel really hurt thinking that people were judging mine. I entirely understand that those that answered 'yes' don't mean judging in a bad way.. I have opinions about what I like/don't like, but I don't think I would really call that judging

I am so GUILTY and its kind of shaming! My MOH got married in September and I felt myself turning my nose up at EVERYTHING she did. Not because I feel that I am better than her but I felt with the amount of money she spent she could have done it much better. But I kept telling myself everyone doesnt know HOW a wedding is supposed to be done... But I am shamefully admitting that I am a wedding judger and I need help!!!!

I guess so, but I think I do it in more of a Dos and Don'ts for my own wedding sort of way. I try to see what is done at other weddings that I can use at mine.

Re: Do you judge other people weddings? POLL
Yes I do . But I find myself 'judging' on ettiquette a lot more than I do on any other aspect. So if something is done 'against ettiquette' it annoys me (like a bride who didin't like her FH's name and totally wrote a different name on the invite, or a bride who was ALREADY married for almost a year but used her maiden name on the response envelope for their 'big' wedding), but for actual tangible things, not so much. I'm weird!

Re: Do you judge other people weddings? POLL
Yes, of course I do. But I think that we're always going to think our wedding is better than someone else's because its ours, and reflects our own personalities and tastes so well. So I don't feel bad about it.

Re: Do you judge other people weddings? POLL
Of course, we all do it! Even before we got engaged, you think about what you did and didn't like about it. I remember the good things and say I want to do that at my wedding and I remember the bad so I'm sure to steer clear of it. It's just opinions, nothing to feel bad about. Just don't make a scene about someone else's wedding, it's their day so if they're happy that's great!
