Do you think this is OK?

Do you think this is OK?

I have major MOH dress issues. My sister WILL NOT buy a dress from a bridal salon. She WILL NOT wear shiny satin. (she's really difficult....she told me today she's not carring a bo-k....HELP!)

SO.....my BM's are going to wear Alfred Angelo separates (Top styles 6501 and 6804) in Navy Blue. (SHE WILL NOT WEAR ANYTHING FROM THE SRPARATES COLLECTION!!!!!) We found the following dress at Lord and Taylor today in BLACK. Do you think it will be horrible together?

I don't think that you should have navy and black together...JMO. Did the dress come in any other colors?

... what about a midnight blue color with the navy?...

if shes being so difficult can you say something like ' look its my wedding, its one day out of one of many years to come, cant you just humor me for a few hours, since its important to me'...

maybe she can wear the regular dress for the ceremony and pictures, then let her change out of it for the reception?

Re: Do you think this is OK?

if that is what she likes.. it is pretty
but then again she agreed to be your MOH and it is your wedding

Personally i don't like the BM look
i want my girls to be able to wear their dress again

i wanted to go to Saks 5th and pick a dress out but i have found a material i like (tafetta) like my dress

i don't blame people not wanting to buy dresses for any amount of money that are frumpy looking and they can't wear again

it doesn't have to be a BM dress if she is the only one wearing it

they are called BM dresses so they can get them in uniform...more than one

besides if they buy it from a store it wont need many alterations.. they will get it in their size

I dont think the black and the navy blue will look good together but thats JMHO.
What if all the girls bought that dress instead?? that way its the same dress and maybe two different colors??

IMO I don't think she is being very fair to you. There are plenty of BM dresses that dont look frumpy that you can wear again. I think the dress she picked looks more like a guest would wear to a wedding then being in the wedding party. I also agree with the other ladies about not putting navy and black bridesmaid dresses together. It is different when the guys are in black and the girl are in navy. I think there should be some type of compromise, maybe with fabric, something because she isn't giving much choices and it almost sounds as if she is being difficult b/c she doesnt want to be your MOH.

IMO, black and navy do not go together. if she is being that difficult tell HER to go find a navy dress.

I'm sorry that she is giving you so much trouble.

But I agree with the other ladies. I don't think that black and navy go together. The MOH can wear a different dress than the other BMs, but I think it should still coordinate with them (same hem length and basic style). Also, if you put her in a navy dress that you find in a different store, it will probably be a different color navy/dye lot. You might be better off rethinking you dress choice for the other BMs. (Or you could just her and make her comply.)

I am not into the 'bridesmaid look'. We chose dresses by Jenny Yoo. They definately could be worn again. I even bought one for myself for the RD (different style and color of course- they have a lot of dresses)

Good luck

I dont think black & navy make a good color combo.

She's not being fair to you. It's your WEDDING DAY! She could put her feelings aside for one day and be alot more flexible. I think as the bride you need to put your foot down. You're running the show, not her.

Honeslty - it makes no sense. I think she is being difficult for some reason other than just to be difficult (does she resent you for getting married?)
I let my BM have input but luckily they liked what I chose. I would try to accommodate everyone if I could but at a certain point - she just has to go along with it.
I would not recommend the navy and black together.

Re: Do you think this is OK?

Thanks everyone for your honesty. I know that blue and black are not a great color combo....but just wanted to get opinions. I could go on forever about how difficult she is being.....

I am not bridezilla here, I really listen to what everyone has to say and want the people in my bridal party to feel comfortable and be happy. It is, however, MY wedding.

I always knew my sister would give me a hard time, I just never imagined it would be this hard.

Thanks again!

Re: Do you think this is OK?

I know I am going to sound like the biggest Biatch.... and I know its easier said then done. But in most cases The Bride picks the dress and says this is what you are wearing. Granted the girls should and could have a say...but majority rules. If you tell her this is what I want you to wear then she should just wear it. And no Bo-K what does she want???? That is where I would draw the line. You are getting married not her. Its your day!
