i just told my fiance that i was going to look into hiring a DOC. he got all mad and said it's a huge waste of money b/c i'm doing a fine job and he doesn't want to pay them for doing nothing. i'm so annoyed. after looking at some of their websites, i feel it could be really helpful and relieve a lot of unnecessary stress on our wedding day.
are you girls hiring one? do you think it will be helpful or is it just a waste of money?

Re: DOC
I think it's helpful and I am using Ryan from Above and Beyond...not that bad of a price, and to have someone else deal with any potential mishaps on that day - it's totally worth it!

I'm definitely getting one. The quotes I've heard are more than worth it not to have to worry about anything the day of. What's the point of spending all this money on a wedding that you cant be a 'guest' at. There no discussion with FH I'm just doing it lol. I know that he'd probably say its a waste too, but I'd be the one that's stuck doing everything the day of.

You have more than a year to tuck a little bit of money away every week for it. Sacrifice your coffee, or bring your lunch to work every day!! You'll have the money saved on your own before you know it, then he really can't say anything to you!! Good luck!

I got one. FH thought it was a big waste too until I showed him the list of everything they do on the day of and he was ok with it. He even payed for it to relieve the stress from me for the day.
I'm using A Modern Day Affair. So far they have been amazing and their prices are great. Laura [LSorrent] a 2010 bride on here is one of the coordinators!
They are having a summer special now: Book by Labor Day (9/6) and receive our full day-of coordination package with TWO coordinators for 12 hours for $600!
I was thinking about getting one and everyone is telling me not to that its a waste
I figure when it gets closer and if i have the extra money ill just get one, if not then oh well

One of my girlfriends had one for her wedding and she said it was the best money she spent. They think of the things you may forget, or things you didn't think of in the first place! Ive been in so many weddings where things were forgotten (bouquets, overnight bags, tipping envelopes) I want to think of nothing other than getting married (and not tripping down the isle)

Re: DOC
I wasnt going to do a DOc, but the truth is I really dont want to be extra stressed on my wedding day. I think I am just going to go ahead and do it, I am not even going to mention it to FH. He wont know the difference anyways, and what does he care, he isnt the one planning anything! I am looking into Above & Beyond, they seem to have a decent price an it also says military recieves a special rate. That is perfect since FH is in Army. Hopefully it is a decent quote!

Re: DOC
i'm using one. i've got the planning under control now, but i'm a perfectionist and a worry wart so i need someone the day of to do the worrying for me. like the other girls said, i don't want to have to worry about the little things the day of, i want to enjoy my day. i also don't want my mom or sister worrying about the little things (since that's who it would fall on if i decided not to get involved).
fh was completely on board and told me he was going to work OT to pay for it since he knows how worked up i get about big events...i think he doesn't want to worry about me having a stroke the day of lol

Re: DOC
If you have the extra money to spend, it's nice to have for your piece of mind that everything will run smoothly and be setup the way you want it. You also won't have to worry about dealing with all the vendors the day of. But it's totally unnecessary. Many weddings have gone off without a hitch wihtout them.
My friend is a DOC and she is actually acting as mine for the day of but not charging me so I kinda lucked out. I am going to get her a nice gift though to thank her - she's been a huge help to me during the planning.

Re: DOC
I thought FH was going to think a DOC was a waste of money but he actually ended up agreeing with me. He doesn't want me to stress out so I guess if I'm not stressed his day will go better too haha. We're booked with Chrissy.

Mine said the same thing to me - but I told him this is my GIFT to myself on my wedding day... And he never mentioned it again! I dont want to be stressed out and worried the entire day - and I know with Nina I wont be now! I think its soooo worth the money hun!!!

Re: DOC
Crashing.... I don't think it's a waste of money at all!!! And it's not about the planning it's about not worrying about anything on the day of. Once I explained that to FH he kinda got it. If something goes wrong and you don't have a DOC who is going to handle it? FH? Nooo, you will and that's not fair. You put so much work into planning that you want to be able to enjoy it like everyone else.
There are a few great companies out there who are running awesome deals right now.

Its not so much for the planning. its for the 'day of!' Tell FH he does not want a stressed out bride ! It is so worth the $$
