Does anyone else worry about having the $ to pay for all this?

I mean, I'm working and fiance is too and we have a 'budget' but I just freaked out today because the wedding's in a few months and a lot of the money is supposed to come in (income tax return, etc.) so if God forbids something happens, we're screwed. Anyone else worry about this? Just typing it gave me palpitations.

All the time....my grant funded job ended in August and I started a doc program in Sept and I haven't found a job yet...luckily FI iand my parents are helping a lot but I really don't know how we are getting through this. It's hard since I want certain things but when I think about the insanity of what we are spending I feel horrible.

I think about $ all of the time. Our engagement is short and we just bought a house. So the money situation is very STRESSFUL! Somehow it will all work out for all of us!

I could have written this MYSELF. I keep having panic attacks over it. There's so many things that could wrong between now and than. We, too, are using our tax returns for the wedding, as well as the money from my car that I still need to sell. I mean, we still save from our paychecks, but those two things will REALLY help us out. I'm just freaking. FREAKING.

I am gonna say ditto to everyones comment. FH and I dont live together as of yet. However, we are planning on moving in together to save money to put towards the wedding Each of us paying rent is KILLING our pockets!!

Honestly, no. We planned ahead enough to know exactly what we would be paying and we did not go over our budget.
We each contribute $500 per month to wedding expenses. That's $12,000 for the year. That and the personal wedding expenses has allowed us to stay within the $15K budget we set for ourselves.
If you plan ahead of time and keep to your limits, paying for your wedding is not a problem.
but then again, we don't pay rent or mortgage, so that has a lot to do with it.
GOD BLESS YA!! We're working too, FH working 2 jobs (he had debt), we have the joint account and i have a special 'Wedding' Express Card just for wedding payments!! Yet, and still, it is crazy how much weddings cost...technically a small down payment for house!!

sgn me up for this plan please! i had a sum of money that i have had for a long time (i was in a car accident when i was younger) but i am still worried beause that isnt enough and i know that my mom isnt really in the place to help even thugh she says she will help and it will be fine...and my dad keeps telling me they cant help but they can pay for their guest, but only if they can use a CC....only prob? FH doesnt take CCs now! too late!!

OK, now I feel worse. If we had a house, a condo, a co-op, anything I wouldn't feel so bad. But we are saving and scrimping and spending a small fortune and we own nothing. LOL. OK, so I get to marry him and wear a pretty dress and thankfully (and hopefully since we're awaiting money) there will be no debt - but yes, it is quite stressful when all is put in 'black and white'. Thanks for sharing lovelies! It's so great to know that we're not alone.

I play what I call the 'scratch and sniff' lotto... but I don't really sniff it :) I buy about $5 worth every couple weeks and I hope that I get a few dollars... none so far other than a dollar here or there. Keeping my fingers crossed nonetheless
Another thing I do which I actually find useful... at the end of the day any coins or dollar bills I have in my pocket/wallet.. I put into a jar. Then on the day before I get paid, I take out any money I have in my wallet and dump it into the jar. When FI comes over to visit, I ask for all his coins and $1 bills as well :)
So far so good.

I like Riniko's change idea, but I don't have that much time left and I 'm afraid it's too late...or will my CH take quarters as payment? Oh, I'm losing it!

My sentiments exactly. Sometimes I read what brides are spending on invitations and I'm like 'ARE YOU NUTS?!'

One thing we did not want to do was start our marriage in debt. We made a preliminary budget and adjusted accordingly. If there was something throwing the budget off, we sat down and re-thought it. Happily we came in slightly under budget!

Well when FH and I started this wedding planning we had like $27,000 in the bank but we started fixing the house (new windows ,framing 2 unfinished rooms, getting a shed then we had to get another vehicle Ford Explorer ) we have nothing left now I do not know what we are doing to pay for this wedding....my parents are giving us $5,000 and his mom is paying for the flowers
Did I mention that FH last day of work is 2 weeks before the wedding....He has been with the company 9 yrs and the owners sold the business and the new owners are closing his dept
He finally was making nice $$$ and got promoted to manager too

I worry about money constantly. I hate being in debt so this wedding is driving me nuts. The worst part is when I start to think about how much I am struggling to save for a wedding, my mind starts to race and I think about a house and kids and everything that I want after the wedding. Ughh...
