Does anyone have a crystler - dodge - jeep? **Updated...we bought a Jeep**

We are looking into a new car and have a friends and family discount...which is 1% below dealer cost - plus any factory rebates...so it seems like a great deal for us...but we are having a tough time deciding on a model...(even in outside of this company)

Re: Does anyone have a crystler - dodge - jeep?

I do!! I have an '04 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I love it!!!! I did the smartbuy, which is almost the same as a lease. It handles great and it's a smooth ride.

If I have one complaint it would be gas mileage!! With the price of gas these days...it seems like I am alway's filling it up. It only 14.2 mpg highway!!

Re: Does anyone have a crystler - dodge - jeep?

We had a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee and it was great in the North East but ****ed in Colorado when Dh was stationed there.
We did have 120,000 miles on it when we retired it though and got 3000 for turning it it from Ford.
I found it uncomfortable but again it was a later model. The problems we had were with the CV joint and I believe they have correct those.

We have a F250 to replace it now, along with my Dodge Neon and well I'm not a huge fan of Dodge either, but my Neon has 87,000 miles on and never treated me that wrong just Dodge did.

That discount sounds awesome!!! I would get a Wrangler unless your planning on kiddo's soon!

Re: Does anyone have a crystler - dodge - jeep?

I think Chrysler's quality has definetly improved since the merge with Daimler (Mercedes)...

They have 2 new cars on the road that look pretty hot, imo...the Pacifica and the Crossfire'.

Re: Does anyone have a crystler - dodge - jeep?

Chrysler may have some nice new vehicles on the road...but I wouldnt say their quality has improved...not at all. If I hada choice of buying a chrysler at a really good deal...Or buying a japaanese car and spending some extra money I would rather get the japanese car.....

Re: Does anyone have a crystler - dodge - jeep?

I think the crossfire is cute...but we already have a sportscar...so to have two tiny cars might not be a good idea...

we have been thinking wrangler...but we are thinking of having kids...while one...even two would fit...I have fears of having triplets...

we were 2 minutes from buying a wrangler last night...until the a-hole dealer didn't want to give me anything for my trade in...he said my car was in 'fair' condition...and according to Kelley blue book it is in good...I was so ****ed off at him...he only did that so that he could make a profit...since he can't make a profit on our sale...

I had a wrangler for 5 years...and it was great for a college student...but I just don't know how it would work for a family....(DH says we can trade up if and when the 3rd child comes - b/c we are never getting rid of our saab we love it so much)

I have an affliction with foreign cars...I have a VW and feel SO guilty that it is not American...

I'm so confused!!!

Re: Does anyone have a crystler - dodge - jeep?

Hmmm...I've heard otherwise on the quality thing. Who knows.

Personally, I would go German before Japanese OR American.

Re: Does anyone have a crystler - dodge - jeep?

What type of car do you have now? If you are interested in buying a honda, I have a connection at South Shore Honda in valley Stream. If you are interested in an SUV You can get a CRV, Element or the Pilot.

Re: Does anyone have a crystler - dodge - jeep?

My mom bought a new dodge caravan in '97, and the transmission had to be replaced four times between the time she bought it and the time she got rid of it. And it's not like she put a lot of miles on it, she had maybe 50k on it when she traded it in. Talk about a lemon! The car spent more time in the shop than it did on the road, and apparently this is a common problem with dodge, though I doubt anyone was as unlucky as my mom having to replace it four times. Maybe they've been improved since, but I know I'll never buy a dodge.
